another call from the IT staff company in the City. Found me a permenant position in the City in which i'll receive network training towards (i assume) eventual deployment as a Network Technician or something along those lines. Details are again sketchy because of the staffing company's commission (so we assume).
$13 an hour. If you extend that to 52 40-hour weeks, its just over 27K.
So far, the problem? Its part-time. As in 3 days a week.
Guy I've been in contact with at this staffing company said that he knows I'm an intelligent person with good experience, but I don't have much in terms of direct corporate experience, which hampers his ability to put me in fulltime and/or higher paying jobs. But if I put in 6 months to a year on this, I'll have received network training and live corporate experience which will really strengthen my resume.
The part-time bit is bugging me a bit. But I've really formed a rapport with this guy, and he levelled with me, so in a way i'm lucky I had it told to me in such a kind, i'm-lookin-out-for-you-kid kind of way. But the fact remains it was said to me by someone in the business. I need more on my resume if I'm going to get the job I want.
I have an interview with the staffing company Monday morning at 10. I'm willing to go that far at least. We'll have to see where it goes.
And you know, its weird. I had Pink Floyd's "Money" in my head all day to this point. Now?
