I wish I knew how to stop being such a spoiled brat. But it is hard when you rationalize every decision and every want/need. This is important stuff.

Important stuff is important :-p Maybe it's the spoiled brat determination that is the rationalization?

I wish this was a self realization. Unfortunately I have been forced to look at myself more than once in the last few months thanks to suggestion(s) from others. And it is true, I have managed to convince myself that I 'should' have it/do this/go there.
So now how do I objectively look at myself, my actions, my reactions and so on?
And you're right, important stuff is important. ;)

Maybe talk to some more friends about it, ones from different groups who are likely to have different perspectives. Trying to figure stuff out in your head when you're doubting your own judgment is a good way to drive yourself nutty. I'm sure there's lots of people in Ottawa who'd be happy to share their thoughts :)

It's hard based on the limited info I've got here, but surely there's room for compromise on all sides - it shouldn't be a choice between spoiled bratism and not getting a say in the important stuff in life. I do not know if this applies in this situation, but you are more than a mother and a wife. You are a person as well, and what you want/need should matter for something too!

I know, I don't think I could be any more vague. It is more like a case of a little bit at a time so that you don't notice the change until you are in the middle of a temper tantrum at the age of 32 ( ... )
