I got there a bit late, but then again so did the woman I was meeting so we ended up getting there at exactly the same time. The shearer was already working on his first alpaca and I immediately fell in love with the animal. Seriously ( Read more... )

Who knows, you might wind up working with animals as much as you love them and perhaps your yarn could be a sideline for you...

I'm kind of planning on working with them. This summer I'm hoping to work as an apprentice shearer for a man who shears alpacas, llamas and sheep.
I'm also devising a plan to get Kathy (the woman who owns the horse I ride) to buy a pair of llamas, or a llama and two alpacas... She's very into buying cute farm animals so I think if I work on her enough she'll cave! haha.

How was the actual shearing part? I got that you loved the animals, but not many details on the actual sheaaring

scary! I couldn't figure out their anatomy because they're SO fluffy so I couldn't see under all the fuzz. It would be like shaving your face in the dark with a real razor!
I loved it though, and I loved all the hands on work I got to do. I think i'm going to take up shearing :)

I KNOW!
I'm totally excited.
I was blathering on about it to my friend Katy tonight- I think I bored her silly because honestly if you're not familiar with the series, spouting little facts about it just confuses things.
