HAH im pissed that you made hte first post about hte camio! FUCK YOU! Yeah i was excited about it too.
Doesnt the Zaphod in the movie remind you of the one from the bbc series?
I was sad about the Leopard joke not being in the movie.
I was also sad about them not putting in "its times like this when im traped in a vogon airlock wiht a man from bettlegeuce about to be thrown into space that i wish i had listened to what my mother told me. What did she tell you? I dont know i didnt listen" (im getting that from memory so its not 100%)
And the romance was unecessary but I'm over it.
Great Film i loved it!
Oh and the digital wtaches intro. THats in every version of Hitchikers but this one. Oh well.
damn I forgot about the digital watches! that would've been so easy and quick to do, anyway... they could've even updated it with cell phones or something... *sigh* the romance was kind of irritating, but I loved how they used voices similar to the BBC series for all of the characters (the ship's computer, marvin, the book, the mice)
well when they did the comic book for DC (which i have because im a nerd). Douglas adams didnt want to update it to cell phones. He didnt like that. He thought something about digital watches was inherently funny. So they probably didnt put it in because they knew it was very relevant to our society and they didnt want to butcher it against his wishes.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I made a note to myself many months ago to check out the BBC Hitchhiker's Radio site and I checked it this evening and lo and behold, the next radio series begins on Ben's birthday (May 3, for those who don't know it)! Check it out at:
the head on Magrathea, the one announcing the nuclear missiles.. was Simon Jones, the original arthur dent in the radio series and BBC series (also the character was kinda made for him.)
yeah, saw it yesterday.. (i spotted simon jones myself) humma kavula.. john malkovich's character? mmm yeah it was nice there were a few new things here and there.. like those thingies that smack them in the head when they have ideas..
overall i really enjoyed it.. thought the animations inside The Book were pretty nifty.. when it got to the end, i thought it would just keep going.. i was disappointed when they all started making sweeping statements like it was the end.. like they weren't really gonna show us the restaurant at the end of the universe! heh. and of course the love thing was sorta hyped up a bit more, but whatcanyado?
oh yeah i liked the whole place where they built the planets.. thought that was amazingly successfully done.
Yeah, I liked how Slartibardfast seemed kind of embarassed about his name... his character was much more involving than the one in the BBC series. Dang. I think I'd like to see the whole thing over again.

Have you seen it yet?
Humma Kavula is an excellent character (I believe the character was written by DA just for the movie.)
