"not another cake that I didn't bake"

I saw a play called Give it Up yesterday. It's a brand new production based on the Greek play Lysistrata that takes place in a college with a horrible basketball team and the cheerleaders decide to withhold sex until they start winning. It was pretty funny and some of the music was very catchy. So much so that I wish I could get a soundtrack, ( Read more... )

Heeeeee, we did Lysistrata in high school. (Which baffles me to this day, as the play involves men walking around with erections, groaning and stuff. Howwwwww did that get past a schoolboard?) And we not only read Lysistrata, we had to do a project. My group chose to make a video, in which we created our own adaptation. In which we withheld video games from our boyfriends until they paid attention to us again. This involved threatening to smash an N64 with a sledgehammer and my friend Matt screaming, "NOOOOOOO!" and flinging himself bodily on top of it to protect it.

We thought we were funny.

I am now intrigued by this play.

Spring Awakening was great! I wonder if its the same touring company that came through here. Let me know if one of the guys looks like Draco Malfoy.

Have fun with your snow. :) That is crazy for Dallas, a whole foot. Nice!

That is too funny! The play I saw was really well done and it got great reviews around here, so hopefully it'll start showing up in other areas. I think you'd enjoy it.

Spring Awakening is in April, so I don't know if it'll be the same tour or not. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a Draco look-a-like, though. :)

Now that's the kind of play, I totally want to watch. My best friend Ankie is sorta dragging me to see "The Secret Garden" because a friend of hers is working on it and yeah, I want to be there for Ankie but I'm not at all interested in that play in particular. This one that you went to? Sounds interesting and awesome! I was laughing at you (sorry, lol) when you said you only have a bunch of the lyrics stuck in your head because I can imagine the torture! LOL, I hate when that happens! I do hope it grows in popularity for your sake.

Aww, it snowed in Texas! How sweet but yeah, I can imagine you already getting bored of it. We get a lot of it here so take your boredom with it and make it tenfold - that is how I feel, lol. I'm totally having the winter blahs now. I want green grass and that springtime smell in the air!! BOOO! :(

Hahaha, Conundrum! You enjoy your wine mi'lady! ;)

The Secret Garden could be fun. I've never read the book, but I adore the movie. The play I saw was a lot less serious, though. Lots of sexual innuendos and immaturity. My kind of play. ;)

Most of the snow is gone now except for a few random piles here and there. It would take me a long time to adjust to living somewhere where it's white like that for long periods of time. I can understand why you'd get winter blahs!

Yeaaah, it could be fun. It's a real elaborate play as per what my friend told me. I've read the book and I think I saw the movie years ago. I don't remember though...See? I'd like to see the play you saw with the sexual innuendos and immaturity, lol. That's MY kind of play too! High-fiiiiiive! :D

I will let you know how The Secret Garden goes in about 10 days, lol...cause that's when it is. :\

Ahh! Then you ought to visit Canada, specifically Toronto in the summer time bb. Do not come in the winter, lol. It's not a dream destination come snowtime. So many winter blaahs.
