One of the thing I dislike about working full-time is that it cuts down the frequency of my translation posts, greatly...

This non.no series is about the only thing I manage to translate these days *sigh* Oh well, ladies, I guess you have no other choice but to put up with the fickleness of my LJ updates, at least until I got sacked, ufufufufu.

Ninomiya Kazunari X Aiba Masaki

Vol.40 - 「Baseball’s Arashi」
A fully enjoyable game of baseball despite the threat of bad weather. It was so refreshing to see the two of them freely having fun!

On the ground after the rain, come on, let's get the game started!
Aiba chan: Here I go!
Nino: Bring it on!

The theme provided by Ohno kun was 「For the two of them who love baseball, I’d like them to discuss the charm of the sport, as well as their memories about it」, and so Ninomiya kun X Aiba kun put on the specially designed uniforms, but just as they met each other, outside rain started to pour down! When everyone was discussing how to change the shooting schedule, the two of them stood up to stretch their backs and head to the ground, saying 「We’ve come all the way here, so at least let’s play some baseball!」 (Ninomiya) and 「It’s okay, we can do it!」 (Aiba). As soon as they stepped outside, the rain suddenly let up…… We present to you that miraculous-but-it-truly-happened baseball game and the talk that followed ♪

I think that baseball truly teaches us the meaning of teamwork

Nino: Today it was the perfect weather condition for a baseball game, wasn’t it (laugh)?
Aiba: True, true (laugh). I’m covered in mud from head to toe here, but I had just as much fun as I would on any other fine day ♪
Nino: I first started playing baseball when I was in grade school. Back then a friend of mine invited me to join our school’s baseball team, that was how it all began.
Aiba: Ah, same goes for me. How reminiscent~!
Nino: I got invited because the team didn’t have enough members. It was 2 days before they had a game, I think. I remember it was some kinda tournament among the 5 wards in the area. During the opening ceremony, we had to stand under the sun to listen to the 5 ward headmen’s speeches, and, well, more than half of our players fainted from heatstroke. In the end, we had to resign…… (laugh)
Aiba: Uwah, you’ve got quite the regrettable memory. Our team at the time were full of little kids around my age, so our coach often told us 「Try your best, if you guys win I’ll buy you all hamburgers!」, and that always managed to get us pretty excited.
Nino: Do you have any memory about games you’ve played?
Aiba: Every time our coach would drive his car to take us to the stadium, but those rides were always jam-packed and unbearably hot……
Nino: Excuse me, I didn’t ask for details of your journeys, I want to hear about the games (laugh).
Aiba: Oh, is that so (laugh)? I was the one with the most hits among the team. Right before the graduation I got an award for that achievement. It sure felt great. But then again, when I was a kid playing baseball, I didn’t care much about stuffs like records or wins or losses. Rather than those things, what I learned from baseball was the spirit of teamwork.
Nino: Well said! (with a serious expression) Moreover, the awareness of teamwork that we received from baseball training back then is now being applied into our work as Arashi, don’t you think so?
Aiba: Of course. And if we were to make that kind of Arashi into a baseball team, the positions would be……
Nino: Jun kun should be the catcher.
Aiba: He says that he used to play that position, right?
Nino: Riidaa doesn’t seem to have any ounce of interest in baseball, so shall we make him the DH (designated hitter)?
(T/N: anyone here watches baseball? Please explain to me about this DH thing, pretty please? Since I don’t watch baseball and the only source of information I can rely on is Wikipedia, I can only tell you vaguely that the DH is a sort of substitute player for the pitcher position *sigh*
Seriously, I’ve many times considered picking up baseball as a favorite sport, but, well, you know, I’m very much into tennis, and with my favorite tennis player the world no.1 being on such a roll, I just can’t seem to gather enough interest to start another hobby. Ok, I know, sorry for the ramble)
Aiba: Nice idea. He’d definitely flourish in that role of the offense specialist. As for Shou chan……
Both: He should be the pitcher (instant response).
Nino: Because he’s used to pitching good balls, thanks to his role as the ace in (the drama) 『Kisarazu Cat’s Eye』. Well, the person himself insists that it was all CG effect though (laugh).
Aiba: Nino, you can be our special left-handed first baseman. Then, when Shou chan got tired, you can replace him on the mound.
(X Monster’s comment: these two are thinking of replacing Shou chan even in their imaginary baseball team ROFL Shou, just how much of a fail you can be?)
Nino: Aiba chan, you’ve been playing the third base since back then. I think you’re perfect for that position which requires the most courage! You know, watching professional games and high school games is not bad, but, after all, I guess playing baseball by myself is still the most enjoyable.
Aiba: I know what you mean! Ah~, talking like this makes me all the more excited about baseball. I want to start playing in a baseball team again soon enough, together with Nino. Just that I don’t think anyone would want to play against us.
Nino: Mou~, like I always say, before thinking about games, we should put in some practice first (laugh)!
Aiba: Yosh, now you’ve got me fired up (laugh)!

The next theme is decided by Nino!
「Since Autumn has come, how about making the two of them challenge a tea ceremony? Jun kun likes tea a lot after all. To tell the truth, I'm not that interested in tea and such, but I certainly hope that two of them would do their best with this (grin)」
