Vol.44 - 「Kotatsu’s Arashi」
It’s the time of kotatsu and little kitten. Let our hearts bathe in the warmth of this cozy talk ♥

Ohno: This thing is impossible to get out of~ (laugh)!
I feel like taking a nap here already
Shou: Aa~, this is the warmth of happiness ♪
Kotatsu always makes you feel such peace
「I want to see the two of you relaxing under a kotatsu!」- to complete that task, as ordered by Ninomiya kun, Sakurai kun X Ohno kun settled into this relaxing mood. The two of them eagerly got into the kotatsu and started to enjoy the mandarins and play with the kitten right away. The whole of our studio was suddenly filled with a sense of comfort and harmony ♥ And here comes the warm and fluffy talk that would make us forget the chill of winter♪
Under a kotatsu, rambling talk and dozing off are both inevitable!?
Shou: Today’s shoot went on in such pure happiness. The kotatsu was warm, the mandarins were sweet, the kitten was cute, everything’s perfect ♪
Ohno: True, true. (while watching the kitten frolicking) You know, I have great respect for these cats.
Shou: Ahaha! Do you have any idea what you’ve just said (laugh)?
Ohno: Their agility is amazing (grin). See here, there’s the cat curling up into a ball, but just when you think about how completely motionless he looks, he might as well spring into a dash, all of a sudden.
Shou: I see, it’s kinda amazing how fast they can switch from on to off and back, right? (laugh) By the way, to Satoshi kun, what is memorable about kotatsu?
Ohno: Back then, every winter morning, I would warm my uniform up under the kotatsu before putting it on.
Shou: Oh, that sure was smart! It’s a pity there was no kotatsu in my house. But in my grandfather’s place in the countryside, there is a hori-gotatsu.
(T/N: the usual, modern version of kotatsu as you know of has an electric heater attached to it. The hori-gotatsu is an older, more original version: instead of the heater, the quill-covered table is placed over a charcoal hearth. Ohno: How nice. I used to love hori-gotatsu. The first time I got to enjoy one of those, I was so moved.
Shou: I like it a lot too. That hori-gotatsu has become sort of an official “family relaxing spot” for all my relatives, a place for the kids to gather around playing and for the adults to have a drink together. My job with that hori-gotatsu consists of falling asleep under it and ends up with my grandfather hauling me to the bedroom. I have quite an important role to play, don’t I? (laugh)
Ohno: Aa~, once you get under a kotatsu, it is always so comfortable that getting out is almost impossible. Eventually, despite yourself, you start chattering noisily about all kinds of things.
Shou: I understand that. If there were a kotatsu in my house, I sure wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation. Guess I was saved by the simple truth that my place doesn’t have enough space for a kotatsu (laugh).
Ohno: And from now on too, we will continue to conquer the harsh winter with nothing other than our thick clothes (laugh).
Shou: Come to think of it, for us, there’s this “kotatsu season = birthday season” equation, isn’t it? I’m also going to see the last of my 20s years very soon… I think it’s high time I started turning into a proper adult.
Ohno: In what aspect, for example?
Shou: Recently, I’ve been trying to clean up my place, but it always takes a long time and I never manage to finish everything up. I figure I should do something about that.
(X Monster’s comment: Shou chan, your definition + your reckoned timing of “a proper adult” is way too surreal)
Ohno: (with the air of an expert) Ah, you know, my place right not is perfectly tidy. I did my best to make it right.
Shou: That’s great! All I managed to tidy up so far is the living room. Once I start with this cleaning thing, I don’t know how to stop. Now every day I just keep cleaning and cleaning.
Ohno: Talking about birthday, last year, I received a lot of congratulations at our concert. It was such a bliss (speak in earnest).
Shou: (reminiscing) Ah, Satoshi kun, I still haven’t given you your present! …… That is to say, why do I have this feeling that our conversation today has been totally pointless? (laugh)
Ohno: Well, even if it’s all 5 of us and a kotatsu, the time we spent wouldn’t be of any more quality either.
Shou: Satoshi kun and Nino will be glued to each other (laugh). And the three of us left will sit basking in reminiscence, we will talk about pointless things and get all excited about nothing in particular.
