Okay here goes my barely finished, barely edited part one of my big travelogue Prayers for Rain summer fic. (only it's closer to the end of summer and this is just the first part but, eh, scratch that).

Kitty! The only thing I didn't get was the phone call during that last fight -- that kind of kept me from getting into the rest of the fic. Maybe she could imagine the call instead? "What would he have said, "Sorry I can't talk right now I'm in the middle of fighting a dragon?" That sort of thing.

Here's the line that got me the most in the whole thing: she went downstairs to the first story of her building. For some reason, I thought of story as a story that you tell, not just the floor of a building. And I thought how that could maybe be a theme of the whole thing, leading upstairs to where they live. Or start at the top and move down, to where Spike is standing outside but looking UP. These layers of memory and experiences are ripe here -- they just need to be "rebuilt" a little. I hope you don't mind the constructive criticism, because I think the images you're weaving here are GREAT! :)

re: the phone call - I can totally get where you are coming from but I guess for the Angel in my mind (since I dont care for him much lol) it seems in character for him to actually talk during all that... but that of course can be debated! thank u again for reading.
