Is there a season to give?

I stopped by Kroger during my lunch break today and saw something that made me sad. There was a man for the Salvation Army ringing a bell outside while an older gentleman passed him. The gentleman turned around and said “Isn’t it a bit early to be doing this? It’s not even Christmas time yet

I always feel so guilty when I see those guys. It's not that I don't want to give. It's just that I don't even have the money to support myself. I think I should be one of those people who benefits from the giving. Maybe I'm being selfish. I don't know. I would give, though, if I had any money.
