Oh man, The Little Mermaid is my MOH's favorite movie. Eric and Ariel will be used, and so will Simba and Nala, from my favorite!

I love the table naming idea. :) It's cute. And I think most people will know 'who' the people are ... especially if yuo include pictures.

LOVE LOVE LOVE those bridesmaid dresses. Very cute and very nice colors.

I think asking the groomsmen later on is ok ... just make sure they have enough time to prepare and get all the suits or whatever ordered. And sometimes people do crazy things like back out at the last minute. But I am sure you guys will be find!

I think the bamboo idea is cute too. If you start collecting the stuff slowly, it won't be one HUGE expense. That's what you should do for a lot of things, start collecting slowly.

And the Christmas cactus is a good idea! I like things that mean things. Put it somewhere where you know what it means, by the guest book, on the gift table somewhere like that. You could even write up a little story about it and put it in a picture frame beside the cactus.

Ah, I might use it by the guestbook or something if I can't incorporate it into all the centerpieces. Excellent idea!

James will have at least one groomsman who won't back out--my brother. So we'll most definitely have one! Hah.

I definitely plan on including pictures on the tables of their namesakes. It will be so fun.

I want to start collecting slowly, so I'm hoping we'll be able to get a house soon so I can start focusing on spending on the wedding and not saving for a house. Yayyyy!

I love the centerpieces idea. Just love it. My one piece of advice is to start shopping now for the componenents, because there are just a ton of places to find vases and jewels etc at, and you'd be surprised the price difference - when you're talking about favors for every guest in attendance, even a few cents makes a big difference. I had really wanted to do something along the lines of what you're talking about for favors, but it wasn't in the budget for us.

Do you have pictures of the cactus? And are you going to hire a florist or do the flowers yourself? Because a florist could come up with neat ideas on how to incorporate the cactuses, especially if you'll want/need flowers to coordinate with them since they won't be in bloom. I definitely recommend either hiring a florist or at least consulting with one.. would have saved me a bunch of headaches.

My mom has one of those!! :) If you go to a grocery store for flowers, do something like Sam's where they have lots of things, and make sure you can order what you want ahead of time but be able to pick it up the morning of the wedding (or the night before, and put them in the fridge).

I LOVE THAT SECOND DRESS. It is gorgeous.

As far as the color? I think maybe you should pick a date first. (Wait did you pick May? I saw that in the comments somewhere, maybe I'm behind.) :P The purple would be gorgeous for a spring wedding (it's light, pastel-y) whereas the eggplant would be more appropriate for a fall wedding (dark). So if you want a spring wedding, put the majority of your girls in the purple; if you want a fall wedding, put the majority of them in eggplant. A pearl necklace would be beautiful with those dresses - maybe that would be a good BM gift ( ... )

I like the "tell him where to go" idea. =)

I didn't even think about winter being the off season. We'll have two winters during which to buy things! [Although James does not want me to do it this winter, because we're trying to get a house.]

It's definitely going to be a May wedding. Marisa will be in eggplant and my other bridesmaids (including Sadie, she just said yes!) will be in purple. Marisa is smaller and my other BMs are plus-sized with huge boobs, so I think that second dress would be better for the boobage and everything. And it has up to a size 28! I can't wait until she gets back online so I can show her the dress. I hope all my BMs like these dresses!

Pearl necklaces--excellent BM gift idea!

Well, if you have two winters to buy things, then maybe don't buy anything this winter unless you find something you absolutely HAVE to have (because it might not be available next winter or whenever you have more money to throw at it).

Whenever you are ready to order BM dresses, order them all at once, at the same store. That way they all come from the same dye lot, and there shouldn't be any variation in color. (Sometimes if you order them all separately or at different stores, there can be slight color variations. I didn't notice it with my girls' dresses, but you never know...) They can probably ship Sadie's dress directly to her or to a store near her if needed, and same for any of your other BMs if they don't live nearby. And good choice for putting your plus-size girls in the second dress - I think that will be more flattering to their figures than the first dress, which is far more clingy. :)

Um... it's looking like fall 2010, so not so much with the planning yet.

Fall weddings are so pretty. If I had done fall I would have had my bridesmaids in a champagne/light yellow color and Marisa in a deep red. The color palette is just incredible.

The last 2 weddings in my family were fall weddings though, so I want to have something different.

You can get fall decorations for cheap soon and next winter to use for a fall 2010 wedding! The nice thing about longer engagements like we're having is that there's so much time to look for excellent deals. =D
