wedding chatter

This is all wedding chatter, haha.

So it's looking like we have a wedding date of May 21, 2010. I wanted a Friday wedding because they're cheaper. James is expected to graduate in May 2010, as long as King's doesn't screw with the classes he needs, so he wanted it after finals. Also, my cousin Caitlin (who I finally asked to be a bridesmaid and is excited about it, yay!) graduates then as well. That left the last two Fridays in May, the 21st and the 28th. My parents' wedding anniversary is May 28 though, and I don't want our marriage to be doomed, so I refuse to marry on that day.

We don't have anything booked yet, but we will only be looking at places open for that date, which I'm sure will not be hard at this point.

I have also decided that I will be an excellent bridesmaid/MOH when my time comes. I've been planning my own wedding forever, I have a million ideas, and I think weddings are the best thing ever. I would go to dress fittings and catering appointments and stuff, whatever was asked of me. I would throw awesome showers and bachelorettes. I'd even wear the world's ugliest dress if it was the favorite of the bride. Marisa is like me--we both want everyone to look and feel their very best on our day. But if she wanted me to, I'd wear a pee yellow [hate] dress that had a high neckline/thing around the neck [hate] that was very short [hate] and was made of taffetta [HATE!]. I'm going to be Marisa's MOH, one of Ashley's bridesmaids, and one of Sadie's bridesmaids if she ever gets married. I also really want to stand up for my brother when his time comes (please not for a while, he's still a baby!), even if it's on his side. That's 4 potential future weddings to be excited about. I'd be Jane in 27 Dresses, thrilled to be in 27 weddings. I know, I know!

As far as finances are concerned, they suck. My mother keeps saying she wants to help, because she and my dad paid for their wedding (which was BEAUTIFUL!) themselves and she doesn't want James and I to have to bear that burden. My dad, on the other hand, thinks that because he and my mom paid for theirs, that James and I have to pay for ours. My mom usually wins these kinds of arguments, but I don't even know if they'll be together by the time we get married, so I have no idea what to count on. James says we'll be okay either way and that we'll figure out how to have the wedding I've been dreaming of. He is such a good sport about all this, even though he makes me crazy on purpose sometimes. Today in the car, he was saying how he'd go into work for a half day on our wedding day. I was like "OH THE FUCK YOU WILL NOT" and he kept saying he would, and he'd leave at noon and whatever. I was like freaking out, lol, and he does that to get a rise out of me because he thinks it's so funny. Then we laughed.

Marisa called me yesterday about another bridal expo coming up next Sunday, which we're both going to. I invited Ashley to come along--she is seriously so excited about this wedding--but she has to be at school to get her clinical assignment so she can't. We have a year from when she graduates to when I get married though, so there will be plenty more for us to attend together. I will have a great time with my MOH. =) I had a great time at the last expo with Angela [whose wedding I am so stoked for!]. It was funny, because we were there together and both brides-to-be, and every third vendor was like "oh you're BOTH brides!?" I SWEAR that one thought we were going to marry each other, so I was like "oh we're both marrying other people, not each other!" and Ange like died. I definitely didn't read the guy correctly and she did, haha.

Speaking of Ange's wedding, she's booked for Halloween 2009 and has her dress and it's lovely. It has colored trim, which some people don't like but I LOVE. I've had some Alfred Angelo styles with colored trim written down. Her trim is red though and mine would either be a soft pink, soft blue, or purple to match my BMs. I've already stepped up to do a lot for her shower and bachelorette, and I'm so excited about both. I'm in contact with her sister/MOH and her mom via Facebook, lol. Ange also offered to let me borrow her slip when she's done with it for my own wedding, but thinks it would be too big for me. She's so funny--we're like the same size, I'm probably a little bigger than she is at this point. Whatever, Ange, your size still only counts as half a person!

I need to do a picture-heavy post soon. It will include the ugly BM dresses Ange and I saw at the last expo, along with me in some bridal gowns I tried on with Ashley and Megan last weekend.

YAY FOR WEDDINGS!
