babies and stuff

I babysat Ashley's nieces, Natalynn and Kiera, today. Natalynn is 23 months old, and Kiera is 6 months old. We had a pretty good time. I watched them two days ago, when Ashley was in WB, so she could take Courtney (her sister/their mom) grocery shopping. No one wants to grocery shop with two little kids, right? Haha. Natalynn had a little meltdown ( Read more... )

i did some au-pair type work when i first got to switzerland in order to improve my german, which involved watching a 2-year-old girl named valentina.

she never wanted me to change her diaper, especially not in the beginning. she'd scream bloody murder and kick and go all out. only wanted her mom to change her diaper. after a while she got used to me doing it, but was never really all that happy about it...

i'd always say "your mom's not going to be back for three hours! you want a dirty bum for three more hours?" but you can't reason with a two-year-old, heh!

I found out I can negotiate with Natalynn on Friday. She let me put her hair in pigtails and I let her have a cookie. I can't imagine trying to reason with a 2-year-old though. Of course the mother would be pissed if you didn't change her diaper, and she'd probably get a rash! Silly kiddos.

I found a few on Amazon, too. I'm just gonna ask James if he'll order one for me. I keep finding things I want to take pictures of, and then I'm like "oh wait, I can't!" I was late coming into this whole digital camera thing--the one I used all through high school had actual film--and I don't know how I ever did without. I used to have to WAIT for my pictures to be DEVELOPED. =D

We always had one or two film cameras when I was growing up, but I wasn't really allowed to use it. I finally got my own in 7th or 8th grade, and then the next year my dad let me use the old digital he bought with grant money for Sacred Heart several years earlier (like before megapixels were invented). I think I only ever used about 5 rolls of film in that camera. We were too cheap to get pics developed at a store, so we did mail order prints that were cheap, but you had to wait and wait and wait for them to come back in. I don't miss that at all-- especially since I'd never have more than two or three really good pics on a roll. I like having the option of taking one picture, or taking 5000 pictures until I one perfect, and having it cost the same either way.

PS. You tell James he has until Friday or I'm going to order it. Seriously.

I started using our film camera in 6th or 7th grade for school trips. I had my own film camera for all of high school, which as you know, I carried with me to like every party and formal and get-together ( ... )

That's so strange because Bia could really care less about who changes her diapers. She will sit in a poopy diaper for hours if you let her, but if you try and change it, she doesn't care! :)

I don't understand how they can sit in their own poop. Doesn't it feel yucky? lol toddlers.

Titus's covers are usually like $3, so not too expensive. . .and if they're playing at the place I'm thinking of it's on 309. Allan and I are coming in for Easter, so we'll be at that show.

Confirmed-- the place where Titus is playing is indeed on 309. Convenient, no?

I know their cover was cheap for their first show (my birthday!) but I actually haven't been to get any since then. I skipped out on someone's show because the cover was like 10 bucks, I thought that was them but maybe not. Either way, in case you didn't see my comment in Ange's journal, I'll probably be there depending on what happens for Easter. =)
