Fahrenheit 451 in the foothills

Well, damn. A few weeks ago, when I heard Ray Bradbury would be speaking at a local library, I drove over and made reservations. I'd always wanted to meet him and was impressed he was still making public appearances. Mr. Nite and I were all set to see him yesterday evening, but when we arrived, there was a sign outside saying that the lecture had ( Read more... )

Hiya! Those shots are amazing. Can't believe how far the smoke stretches. I heard Brian Williams say that the haze over Denver was caused in part by the fire. I don't smell it as much as I did in the beginning, but the clouds are something else. I've been keeping my mom indoors as much as possible. Not that she appreciates it.

Come to think of it, we may have to take face masks with us when we go check out my father-in-law's house. I just hope the two feral cats in the back are okay.

I'm worried about all of you in that area, so it's good to hear that you're not actually in the fire zone.

Stay safe! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather will decide to cooperate soon.

I'm definitely grateful not to be in the middle of it. But I do feel for all the folks who lost their homes.

I am SO ready for the some cooler weather. Hope things have going okay for you.

Speaking of rain, we could definitely use some! The drought conditions aren't helping one bit. The last time I checked, the fire was about 40% contained. That's a big improvement over a few days ago.

Seattle and Milwaukee?!

I haven't been following news much at all, but that is very impressive. I cannot imagine how hot it must be if wildfires start like that. It's been kind of chilly in the Northeast...

Hope all is well otherwise. :) *hugs*

Isn't that unreal? On the good news side, the broadcast towers on Mt. Wilson have been spared, so all the TV and radio stations are breathing a sigh of relief. (I can watch Supernatural tonight... woo hoo!)

It hasn't been a fun summer though. I'm still looking after my mom, along with a sick cat and an injured tortoise. Will complain post about that later.

How about you? Would love to see an update, whenever you get a spare moment.
