Carolyn awoke bright and early to the scene of dancing Christmas lights above her head, slowly dimming while her curtains opened themselves to reveal the rising sun through her bedroom window. She was almost startled by them, as she had become quite accustomed to the night lit candle she kept in her dorm back at Hogwarts. Sitting up Carolyn allowed her eyes to adjust to her childhood room which had remained untouched over all the years of her joyful existence. Her walls were painted baby pink with zoo print borders along the baseboard and just under the ceiling. All of the furniture in her room -besides her pink bean bag chair- was made of lightly stained Curly Maple imported from Canada, and covered in stickers and stamps from her ‘creative years.’ Carolyn's room had always brought her a sense of play and she admired it greatly.
After the look around and the settled thought that she was actually home, Carolyn slipped into her fuzzy froggy slippers and made her way out of her room and down the three flights of stairs to the family room. The scent of fresh cinnamon filled the air as she hit the landing of the main floor, and decided to take a slight detour through the kitchen. As she drew nearer she could hear the soft, hypnotising humming of her mother as she worked over the stove on the family breakfast.
"Good morning, Mommy. Evan." Carolyn smiling to Evan at the table and then skipped lightly towards her mother and kissed her sweetly on the cheek as to not fully distract her from her cooking. Carolyn loved her mothers' cooking, especially since it was such a rare occurrence with being in boarding schools since she was old enough to be sent.
"Good morning, Sweetheart. I trust you slept well?"
"Like a cloud." she replied her voice light and airy as she thought back to a dream she had had.
"And what's his name?" her mother asked with an 'all-knowing-motherly' smirk.
"Whose?" Carolyn asked genuinely confused.
"Is he cute?"
Carolyn cheeks instantly flushed, "Mommy!"
"Oh, well he must be than." her mother teased still not drawing her attention from her cooking. "I expect he will be down to visit my little girl over the break, yes?"
"Mommy, I really have no clue what you are talking about."
Andrea Barry smiled, unconvinced of her daughters performance: though she really had no need to be. Wishful thinking may have been a factor, Carolyn's mother had already been head over heals for her father when they were her age.
"I dare say, it is far too early in the morning for girlish squealing." William Barry made his way into the kitchen, newspaper in hand, and smiled at his wife and daughter.
"Oh, it’s never too early for a mother to catch up with her daughter." Andrea responded as she turned off the stove and floated her way to bid her husband a proper ‘good morning’. "You are up just in time, m’love."
"Aren’t I always?" he smiled as he held his dainty wife in a loving hug, kissing her and nearly taking no notice to his daughter. Affection had never been an issue in the Barry household, and it was used quite frequently among the members of the doting family. Carolyn smiled at her parents, she couldn’t think of a more perfectly suited couple and could only wish that she would one day have that same sort of relationship.
As the elders of the Barry clan continued with their sweet-nothings Carolyn decided it would be best for her to wake her older brother Mark and his much welcomed quest. Climbing to the stairs to the second landing, Carolyn lightly knocked on the second door to the left. "Markie dear, it’s time for breakiefast."
"Okay, Care?" came a quick and stiffled reply from on the other side of the door; no doubt he was still curled up tightly in his bed sheets.
"I'll go wake up Charlie than."
"Uh, it's alright, Charlie bunked with me last night. We'll be down in a few minutes okay?"
"Okie." Carolyn skipped off completely oblivious, down the stairs and back into the kitchen, relaying the message back to her parents that the older boys would be down momentarily.
[ooc: Aren't they just terribly sickening? XD Sorry it’s long, I’m quite bored… and sick *sniffles* Heh, anyway if people want to come down today they can -no pressure-, of course. Either posty here with sped up time, or make your own post. ♥ Different plot Clare dear... heehee see the set up!? XD]
