“Biohazard Blast battle?” James questions. The apartment goes silent, and as if on cue, Kendall, Logan and Carlos’ eyebrows raise, their gazes all focused on James. It’s been a while since the four boys living in 2J had heard those words. The last time they’d even thought about the game, three of them moved out. The competiton is bound to get heated, they all know that, and that’s why they all seem to hesitate at answering James’ question.

“No. You know what happened last time…” Kendall states. He looks to Logan, who’s looking at him with a look that says he’s agrees. Finally, he sides with me.

“We won’t fight!” Carlos exclaims. “Kendall, if you and Logan want to sit back, be wimps, and not play, that’s fine. But me and James are playing! Dibs on the platinum controller!” He turns and walks towards the living room.

“Fine, I’ll play!” Logan throws his arms up in frustration. He goes into the living room, and picks up a controller on the couch, while Carlos and James set up the game. “Kendaaaaaaaaall. C’mon, now you have to play,” the shorter brunet begs.

And Kendall just can’t say no. He can’t because Logan is the one begging. He’s in too deep, and he knows it. He doesn’t even know that Logan loves him back, yet he still can’t say no to anything the shorter boy asks him to do.

“Fine,” Kendall agrees, grudgingly.

It really doesn’t take long at all before all hell breaks loose. They’re yelling, fighting, and smacking each other without once taking their eyes off the screen. Like dominos, James loses his footing and bumps into Carlos quite hard, Carlos falls into Kendall’s side, and Kendall gets pushed towards Logan; Logan’s elbow, to be more specific. The pressure on his elbow pushes his whole arm forward, and his thumb jams against joystick. And then they heard a crack.

“Uh, guys…” James whispers, looking over at Logan.

“T-that hurt,” Logan whimpers. He knows now that he shouldn’t have played this game.

“What hurts? What happened?” Kendall panics. Something’s definitely broken. It’s his fault, and he knows it.

“My thumb,” Logan tries to bend his left thumb, but it won’t give, it just hurts. “I have to go to the hospital. It’s broken, I can’t even move it. I can’t drive though, so Kendall has to drive with just the permit, even though I only have my permit and he shouldn’t, and-”

“Hey, calm down. Breathe, Logan. I can drive, it’s okay…” Kendall grabs Logan hand, the not broken one, and gives it a squeeze. “Um, James, Carlos, can you guys stay here and wait for my mom and Katie?”

“But I wanna-” Carlos starts before James cuts him off.

“Stay. We have stuff to do here, anyway,” the tallest boy raises an eyebrow and laughs.

It takes Kendall and Logan only fifteen minutes to get to the hospital. They wait almost three hours, though. What could possibly have happened in the three hours that they waited? The emergency waiting room was empty when they arrived, and pretty much stayed that way. Kendall didn’t mind the wait one bit, because it meant more time with Logan. Logan rests his head on Kendall’s shoulder, and holds on to his t-shirt with his right hand, keeping his left in the blond’s hand. At one point, he falls asleep, and Kendall does something he’d be too afraid to do if Logan were awake. Lightly, the taller boy presses his lips to the other’s. He smiles when he pulls away, and Logan doesn’t even stir. I’m getting somewhere.

“Logan, hey. You have to go now. Doctor’s calling you,” Kendall nudges Logan.

“My hand hurts. ‘m tired.”

“I know it does, and I know you’re tired.. You have to get your hand x-rayed now. I’ll be right here when you come back, okay? Go,” the blond watches Logan walk into the main area of the hospital. He leans back into his chair and falls asleep for what seems like only 5 minutes. Logan comes back an hour later, and sits next to Kendall.

“Hey, Kindle. We can go home now.”

“Oh, hi. Everything better?”

“I guess,” Logan shrugs, “Broke my thumb.” He holds up his arm, wrapped in a cast that starts below his elbow and goes up to the line of all his fingers except his thumb (That was fully wrapped and immobile).

The first thing Kendall notices is that the cast isn’t red, Logan’s favorite color. It’s his favorite color, green. Was there some reasoning behind Logan getting a cast in Kendall’s favorite color? Did they just run out of red? Kendall pushes the thought from his mind and stands up.

They drive home in silence, like they did on the way to the hospital. This silence was different; this silence was awkward, and unlike both of them. It isn’t until they’re back in 2J, in their shared bedroom, and both laying in Logan’s bed together that the brunet says anything.

“I know,” is all he says.

“You know what?” Kendall asks slowly.

“I know that you kissed me,”

Shit, shit, shit. This isn’t good. Nope, not one bit. There goes our friendship! Kendall can’t even form a sentence. “Oh,” is all he can say.
“But I also know that I liked it, and I know that I like you. I know that I like you a lot more than I should because you’re my best friend and that’s just weird but I do. Like you, I mean. I do like you. I kinda want to be your boyfriend, as dumb as that sounds,”

This is happening so fast and he likes me and he likes me and he likes me and he actually LIKES ME. Kendall, again, can’t form a sentence, and it all just comes out like word vomit. “I don’t even just like you, Logan. Hell, I love you. I have for years. People always complain about unrequited love and crap, but they don’t even know half of it. Seeing you 24/7 and loving you, and knowing you wouldn’t return it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt. Worse than a hockey injury, and worse than that sprained ankle from dancing a few weeks ago.”

“I am returning it. I am now, Kendall.” Logan whispers.

“I love you so much,”

“I love you too. Kiss me again,” Logan laughs.

And Kendall does what Logan tells him to, because he just can’t say no to the love of his life.
