"Stay away from me!"
Yifan shot up in his bed with a jolt, a heavy wave of nausea sweeping over him as he shook in his cold sweat. He could hear the loud pounding of his heart in his ears as he frantically looked about the room, eyes adjusting to the light.
He could not express in words the amount of relief he felt when his eyes landed on a peacefully sleeping Junmyeon, and carelessly allowed his tears to fall from his eyes. Sobbing quietly, he gently wrapped his arms around his sleeping lover, crying into his hair, as he recalled returning home just hours before. He'd walked in the door to find Junmyeon cooking dinner and so he had wrapped his arms around his boyfriend's waist, and helped finish cooking their meal. For the remainder of the night, they hadn't done any more than just exchange goodnight kisses.
They hadn't done anything of the sort of what he feared, yet he was regretful and felt scared. He sniffled into his lover' hair, breathing deeply to relax, but he knew he wouldn't be able to sleep the remainder of the night.
Yifan lied awake until the dreaded ringing of his morning alarm, which he turned off with a slap of his hand, and curled back into Junmyeon's side. He felt like shit, to say the least. His eyes burned from crying and lack of sleep and felt slightly nauseas. It wouldn't hurt to miss one day of taking orders for people. And he couldn't even think about going in to his side job, which he soon realized he would've had three partners for one movie--no, he just couldn't do it today. He didn't want to do anything, period.
A few moments later, Junmyeon stirred in his wake. "What time is it?" he asked groggily, peeking over his shoulder.
Yifan glimpsed at the red lettering on their digital clock and answered, "It's a little passed five-thirty." Yifan winced at how hoarse his voice sounded.
Unfortunately, Junmyeon noticed as well, and rolled over to look at his boyfriend. "You okay, Yifan?"
Yifan sniffed involuntarily and looked away, showing tiredness. "Yeah, I'm fine," he reassured the other, "Go back to sleep."
However, Junmyeon did not go back to sleep, and instead switched on the lamp on his side table. He looked back over at Yifan, and frowned immediately when he saw Yifan's blotchy, pale face, puffy and red from crying all night. "Baby, what's wrong?" he questioned him, scooting closer to Yifan.
Yifan said nothing, but accepted Junmyeon's comfort, hunching down to lean on his lover's shoulder. He sighed as Junmyeon ran his hand over his back in a soothing motion and allowing his eyes to rest for a while.
It was a few moments later that Junmyeon inquired once more, his voice low and cautious. "Is something bothering you, Yifan?"
Yifan took a breath before saying, "I had a nightmare. Couldn't sleep all night."
Yifan felt the vibrations of Junmyeon's low hum, something he did when he listened. "Wanna talk about it?"
Yifan shook his head quickly, sniffling again when the tears stung his eyes once more. He kept his eyes squeezed shut, trapping the wetness from spilling over.
Hearing his loved one's breathing quicken, Junmyeon held him tighter and ran his fingers through Yifan's hair, softly whispering comforting words.
They sat in silence for nearly an hour before Yifan got up to call in sick to both work places. Shortly after, he crawled back into bed and continued to allow Junmyeon hold him, relaxing into the comfort. Junmyeon made everything better.
"Do you want me to stay home with you today?" Junmyeon asked after looking at the clock, noticing it was time for him to start getting ready for his day.
Yifan shook his head. "No, it's okay. I think I just need to sleep for a while," he muttered, already feeling himself slipping into the abyss of nothing.
Junmyeon pecked his forehead before rolling out of bed, treading quickly so he disturb the other. When he went to tell Yifan goodbye, the elder was already sleeping soundly.
That evening when he returned home, Junmyeon found the apartment oddly silent.
"Yifan, I'm home!" he called out, though receiving no response.
Junmyeon quickly made his way to the bedroom and found Yifan in the same position he'd left him in that morning, curled up underneath the blankets. Except this time, Yifan was awake, staring at the blank wall in deep thought.
Junmyeon sat down on the edge of the bed, laying a hand on Yifan's shoulder. "Did you sleep all day?" he asked carefully, forehead crinkling in concern. It hadn't looked like Yifan had moved at all.
Yifan shook his head. He'd been too afraid to go back to sleep. He didn't even want to look at Junmyeon, he just felt disappointment in himself, even if it had all been only a dream.
Junmyeon sighed at the lack of response. "Did you eat at all?"
Yifan shook his head again, and winced when Junmyeon swatted his shoulder.
"Yifan," he scolded, "You need to eat something. I don't want you getting sick."
Junmyeon fussed over his boyfriend before going to the kitchen and made sandwiches for the both of them before returning to the bedroom with the food. His boyfriend was an idiot, he needed to take care of himself.
"Here," he said, laying the plate with a sandwich beside Yifan. Yifan touched it but didn't bring it to his mouth. "Oh my gosh, Yifan, just eat it. I'm not going to feed you."
Yifan took a bite and swallowed, and then taking another and another. He hadn't even realized he'd been hungry. He halted suddenly when Junmyeon laid his hand on Yifan's forehead, feeling for a temperature.
"You don't have a fever," Junmyeon mumbled. "Yifan, are you feeling alright? You've been acting strange."
Yifan sighed before answering, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just wasn't feeling like myself today is all."
Junmyeon ran his hand through Yifan's hair, he liked the way it felt. "I know you said you had a nightmare last night. You sure you don't want to talk about it?"
Yifan shook his head, shivering at the thought. He didn't want Junmyeon to know. "No, I don't."
"Yifan, was it really that bad?"
Yifan heard the sudden softness in Junmyeon's tone, and knew his boyfriend was only worried for him.
"Yifan, I only want to help you," Junmyeon continued. "How can I help you if I don't know what's wrong? Please..."
Yifan took Junmyeon's hand and pulled the other man down to lay beside him on the bed before wrapping his arms around him. "It was just a really bad dream and I don't want you to know about it. You might hate me."
Junmyeon frowned. "I wouldn't ever hate you, you know that."
"I don't know, it was really bad."
"Well, what happened? Did you kill someone in your dream? Hurt someone?"
Yifan didn't answer, couldn't answer, because yes, he had hurt someone.
Junmyeon sighed again, knowing he was spot on. He kissed Yifan's cheek before saying, "Yifan, it was only a dream. You and I both know you'd never hurt someone in real life, so there's no need to worry so much. Talking about might make you feel better too, but I won't force you. Just know that I'm always here okay?"
Yifan kissed him back, enjoying the way he tasted and always managed to make him feel better.
"In my dream," he started carefully, "I hurt you and you hated me for it. I didn't want to tell you, because I was scared. That's my biggest fear; losing you. Doing something that could hurt you and you never forgiving me for it. I don't want to lose you ever. I don't even know where that dream came from but I don't want to have it again."
Junmyeon took Yifan's hand and held it tightly in his own. "That's a fear you shouldn't need to have. I love you so much, and you're one of the sweetest people I've ever met. I know you'd never do anything to hurt me, and even if it was unintentional, I'd forgive you. There's no way I could imagine a life without you," he whispered, and kissed Yifan softly to convey his feelings. "You should cast that fear aside, and not worry so much. Worry too much, and you're going to become old real fast."
Yifan chuckled and kissed him back, truly thankful to have such a wonderful person in his life. "Just saying this now, if I ever did hurt you though, I'm really sorry."
"Oh stop," Junmyeon hushed him. "You've never hurt me and you never will, okay? Geez, you really are getting old."
Yifan scoffed and rolled them over so he was on top, and fervently tickled Junmyeon, grinning wickedly as Junmyeon laughed and yelled at him he'd break his neck. They calmed after a while and lied beside each other, enjoying their closeness.
"I really do love you," Yifan whispered in Junmyeon's ear.
Junmyeon patted his soft cheek, grinning at his lover. "I know you do. I love you too."
Yifan kissed him deeply, too happy to say anything else.
"But you should take a shower," Junmyeon then added, smirking. "I can certainly tell you didn't leave the bed all day, lazy ass."
Yeah, Yifan had a real catch.
