inception.
for over 20 years of my life i've had the phrase "common sense" thrown at me. don't ever even try to sympathize when it still doesn't click now. don't even try to understand the frustration i feel when something SHOULD make sense and it doesn't. i'm not like you.
i tried watching it. i just can’t understand it, and it frustrates me to no end because maybe i’m just not as smart as everyone else. i’m confused as to the whole 10 hours = 6 months = 10 years bullshit. the van moved in 10 hours dream time, the hotel should have moved exponentially slower since it was 6 months time and no one in the “snow level” should have felt anything since it was 10 years time. then you had the “godfather” who was roped up, who was (the double) handcuffed up… and at the end pete postlethwaite basically said everything the roped up guy confirmed? i understand the point of the movie… the asian guy wins. but the trains… the totems… maybe i’m just not seeing it from an entertainment point of view, but i just don’t really understand the movie.
here’s a background of me: i don’t think like you. from the time that i started reading (10 months, way before those “teach your child to read” bullshit dvds), i was diagnosed autistic. i have done some stupid-ass shit in my life as a child, and as an adult where “use your common sense” was always thrown at me. maybe i don’t have common sense.
maybe i think differently? but nevertheless it frustrates me to no end that my wife who always tells me, “you’re the smartest person i know” can understand this REALLY AWESOME MOVIE that i don’t get because “maybe you’re just not using common sense” really perplexes me. yeah, it’s a dream within a dream within a dream within LEO’S DREAM… the whole “let’s make this inception happen” thing still confuses me.
i haven’t been frustrated to tears in a very long time, but tonight i really REALLY broke down because i don’t really get it the way you tumblr people do. this dream probably wasn’t meant for fuckups like me.
if you get it, at least explain it to me. because i seriously won’t watch it again unless i get it.

this is what i wrote my wife (who is also frustrated that i’m not getting it):
i am reading the synopsis of the plot. just so i know exactly what i saw vs. the way the movie goes. this way you can’t say “you were too drunk to realize”.
the double (eames) turns into the godfather to extract information.
they enter a van (from the 10 hr dream) to a hotel (the 6mo dream) to basically make the guy think everything was planned from the godfather. they make the son “enter” the godfather’s mind to see what he was talking about before? they got into the van.
they’re in the snow (the 10 year dream). but while in the snow there’s always one person that stays behind to wake everyone up. the hindu guy is driving the van off the bridge, the guy from 3rd rock from the sun is in the hotel, and the “double” guy has bombs.
the son gets killed by the (make-believe) wife (from leonardo dicaprio’s mind) but that’s ALSO where i’m fucked up. how did they go into the son’s head to find her to reveal all that bullshit about putting their heads on the tracks after the son has already “died”? i understand that leonardo dicaprio kept trying to wake his wife up from the dream “50 year life together” they had, but how did they get there (back to his wife) in the first place (since they are in the son’s head)? also, how did they wake the son up from limbo after he already died in his 3rd (limbo) dream? to talk to his dad?
do you see where i’m confused? am i just not having enough common sense to understand how it all fits together?
