Final List of Qualifying Fandoms

Oct 23, 2012 23:34

Thanks to everyone who voted in the fandom nomination polls! Please remember that only the fandoms on this list can be represented in the prompts on your sign-up.

Discontinued fandoms: Being Human UK, House, Twilight, The X-Files

New fandoms: Avengers movieverse, Grimm, Once Upon a Time, Teen Wolf

This was an incredibly difficult decision, because it’s always more fun to add more fandoms (and I personally would have loved some zombie fic). Unfortunately, matching was a bit tight last year when we expanded the total number, and with the new schedule we aren’t sure we’ll get a big enough turn-out to make an even larger set work. Additionally, given previous votes-to-sign-up ratios, Grimm was the only one with enough votes to guarantee more sign-ups than the fandoms we cut for being too small, and to have a strong shot at actually getting matched and written. :(

HOWEVER! We’re adding an exciting new option this year to try to overcome this. Look for info in the next post! (today and tomorrow are a bit post-heavy, but we’ll be quiet for weeks after this, I promise)

All fandoms on your sign-up must be from this list.

FANDOMS WITH SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Avengers movieverse: This is a single fandom that assumes you have seen all of the films under the umbrella (Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Captain America, Thor, The Avengers). You cannot sign up for individual films as separate fandoms.

Star Trek, Doctor Who, X-Men, Sarah Connor Chronicles: All prompts must refer to the approved version (ex., don’t include prompts for Jean-Luc Picard, as he is from a different version of Star Trek). However, you're allowed to list other versions that you like in the 'Other Info' section of your sign-up sheet, so that if your writer also knows them, she can choose to write about them instead of/in addition to the approved version. There is no guarantee of this, so be prepared to read and write about the default canons.

Doctor Who & Torchwood, X-Men & X-Men First Class, SGA & SG-1: If you don't want any possibility of receiving a crossover of, for example, X-Men/X-Men First Class, you should formally request only one of them and your prompts should reflect that one. You can state in the 'Other Info' section that you like both so that your writer is free to cross the entire universe with another show, if she, too, knows both. As a writer, if you know both, you should offer to write both.
