Today didn't go at all as planned. Firstly, I woke up to snow....WTF? Was that really necessary today???? So anyhoos, I waited for the roads to be somewhat good, then I went to town to run a few errands before going to Keyser. I walked into walmart, picked up the cd and went to check out. The lady was like, "Who are we listening to today." *picks up the cd* "David....Coooook. What does he sing?" So yeah, that was an interesting conversation once she realized who he was. Seems as though her friend went to the the concert in Pitts. I learned interesting stuff. Nice lady.

I made Grams listen to Archie on the way to Keyser and Cook on the way back so that she could compare, cause ya know, she was an Archie fan while the show was on. "Permanent" got her. I glanced over and saw tears. So I asked her which album was better and she said..."Well.... they both have good songs." That wasn't the answer that I wanted, but at least she likes Cook. She was even nice enough to record him on GMA yesterday. *grins* And then told me everything that happened BEFORE I got the chance to watch.

Then this evening, I ended up sitting in the ER again. It was almost 9 when we got out of there. Grams has a bowel obstruction so that's going to be fun. I'm going to work in the AM to do the Sysco order, but then I'm coming home. Her medication is making her somewhat loopy and I don't want to leave her alone for fear she might burn the house down or something. So yeah....OHH!! And the bossladies are so getting paid back for last week. The BIG delivery is tomorrow and I'm not there and we don't have a cleaning aide to take care of it in my absence. Oops! Plus if anyone calls in tomorrow, there is NO ONE for replacement. *says a little prayer* Did I tell you what Sheila told me after I explained the nightmare that was Friday??? She smirked and said "Well, you'll have days like that." I've never wanted to slap someone so badly. NEVER.

But I'm totally getting OT here. The post was originally for the album reviews.

First Cook's, then Archie's.

DAVID COOK ---if you have bought no other albums this year, or if you plan to buy no more albums this year, BUY THIS ONE! Or if you like, I'll buy it for you.... :~D Cause DAMN, it's a good one. His "thank yous" amuse me. He thanked Archie, for once using his full name and listing the other idols by their nicknames. :~P Then he goes on to thank a gazillion other people including STEVE PERRY! Fucking yes! *ahem* Um, oh yes.... and Family Guy and Always Sunny in Philadelphia...haha! But um...he forgot to mention Kim? WTF, dude...wonder if he got his ass kicked for that one.... @_@ And I so love that his publishing co is called Analog Heart Music!!!

Track One: Declaration (written by David Cook, Johnny Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls, & Gregg Wattenberg). Great way to start the album. His voice in the beginning literally gave me chills. "I'll take you jus the way you are...." all low and growly. The chorus is powerful...kinda reminds you a bit of an 80s power ballad. "It's my declaration to anyone who's listening. You're my inspiration as I stand alone against the world. Cause you love and you bleed and you stole my sole to set me free."

Track Two: Heroes (Written by David Cook, Raine Maida from Our Lady Peace, & Cathy Dennis). I love how this one starts out with just the guitar and then builds with the drums and there's amazing guitar playing going on. The lines "With you and you alone..." & "I just need to let you know" drip with sexiness right before he begins belting out the chorus which is my favorite, I think. "I'm not going to come down. Down off of these clouds. All these heroes come and go. (You're still standing.) You teach me to rise up. To open my eyes up. All these heroes come and go. You're still standing."  I love how he keeps dropping his voice down really low to sing certain lines. It's just wow... Makes me feel like I should be watching a superhero movie.

Track Three: Light On (written by Chris Cornell & Brian Howes). Everyone knows that I love this song and have since the moment I heard it. No need to elaborate more... Moving on....

Track Four: Come Back to Me (Written by Zac Maloy, Espen Lind, Amund Bjorklund) . ONE OF MY FAVES! "When you find you, come back to me." It's about letting someone you love spread their wings and grow or heal without question, and letting them know that you'll be there for them no matter what. Nothing will change. It's just an amazing song. Reminds me a lot of Journey.

Track Five: Life on the Moon(Written byDavid Cook, Zac Maloy, Espen Lind, & Amund Bjorklund). Written to describe the past year of his life. "Here are my terms. Have some faith in me and I'll let you be who you need to be. Life on the moon couldn't be any stranger. Life on the moon wouldn't feel as far away. The life that I knew, it's through, and I'm gonna need you more than ever. I'm alone in this crowded room. It's like life on the moon."  Again, his voice just...I can't even describe it. It can be deliciously rough & gravely or breathtakingly smooth & sexy or a combination of both and that effing floors me.

Track Six: Bar-ba-sol (written by David Cook, Danny Grady, Steve Slovisky, Chris Wojtal, Jade Lemons). Ode to a GREAT rock song about...a hangover??? From the pulsing of the bass drum to guitar riffs that only vets should be attempting. "Sailing all alone, I thought I made it home, but I threw it all away." I LOVE IT. "I feel sick, I feel nervous. I know just what I did to deserve this. Oh, I know it's not a dream." Yeah, not too much I can say about this one other than if F**KIN' ROCKS!

Track Seven: Mr. Sensitive (Written by David Cook & Raine Maida). I. Just. Love. It. I can't really say much about this one. "I would like to introduce Mr. Sensitive. The one who will never let the worst get the best of him." And my favorite line in the song.... "Just feel the anger. Feel pain. Feel the sun and the rain. Just feel something. Oh, feel something."  .

Track Eight: Lie (Written by David Cook, Zac Maloy, Espen Lind, Amund Bjorklund). Hands down, probably my 2nd favorite song on the album. I love the softness in his voice. The melody is beautiful. "So lie to me and tell me that it's gonna be alright. So lie to me and tell me that we'll make it through the night. I don't mind if you wait before you tear me apart. Look me in the eye, and lie, lie, lie." I heard this one and instantly had a film playing in my head. I just love it so much.

Track Nine: I Did It For You (Written by David Cook & Raine Maida).  "The pain I endure. You're my cure."  The chorus on this one is beautiful.
Track Ten: Avalanche (Written by David Cook & Kevin Griffin). It is love. "Carry me down, rolling in your arms. cause I can't remember ever falling this hard. Tell me tonight all that we have been. Was it nothin' more than noise inside our heads, crashing down. Crashing down in your avalanche."

Track Ten: Permanent (Written by David Cook, Chantal Kreviazuk, & Raine Maida). Just the piano, strings, and David's voice. Faulcetto at times. There are just no words to give justice to this song. "Will you think that you're all alone when no one's there to hold your hand. When all you know seems so far away and everything is temporary, rest your head, I'm permanent." So beautiful...and the next part broke my heart. "I know he's living in hell every single day. So I ask oh god there some way for me to take his place. And when they say it's all touch and go, I wish I could make it go away...."

Track Eleven: A Daily AntheM (Written by DAVID COOK! Alone). Capital letters spell his brother's name. :~) This is just an amazing song. Again, no words. It's my FAVORITE song on the album. "It's a daily anthem. Would you sing my song at the top of your lungs, and we'll all sing along."

HIDDEN SONG: Kiss on the Neck. JUST HOLY EFFIN HECK! Talk about rocking out.... And killing me in the process.... yes, this one could have. "Put on a scent with some attitude. Put on a dress with some bite. Make up your skin like your favorite star. You're going out tonight."
*dies* "I could see that you were lost when you walked into the room. Such an old cliche. Hollywood's full of girls like you with your backbone stuck inside your purse. Your fairytale couldn't get much worse. You're broken, but we all know we can win you over with just a kiss on the neck."  AND my favorite line..... "You're grinnin big 'cause you got it made. Such a colossal fake!" Because I can think of so many like that...

BONUS TRACK: Time of My Life. It's the song from AI. Loved it then. Love it now. Nothing new to add. *sings along*

BONUS TRACK: Breath Tonight (Written by David Cook, Sam Hollander, & Dave Katz). Lovely.... "You, broke when I just bent." His VOICE.....OMG! I know I keep going on and on...but geez! "Breath tonight. You're alive." This reminds me of POISON. Seriously.  "Can you breath tonight, as the air is leaving you. Scream tonight, like the words eluded you."

Ahem.... there was another bonus track on the digital version that I should have got on Itunes because I pre-ordered the album....BUT the SOB decided to DL all the songs except that one and "Time of My Life" SOOOO I didn't get it. It was called "My Last Request" and the peeps at Itunes informed me that there was nothing they could do about the 'glitch.' Bitches. Oh well...such is life I guess....

ONLY COOK....This is the middle section of the CD Booklet.... LOL....

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Ok... Archie's.

Track One: Crush. Loved it fromt he first time I heard it. Reminded me of a couple friends and it still does. *hint* *hint* GOSH! "Am I crazy of falling in love. Is it real or just another crush?"

Track Two: Touch My Hand. Not my favorite song on the album, but not horrible either. Ami likes this one.... :~/

Track Three: Barriers. Now this... I like... His voice surprises me sometimes and I had to shake myself... "Cause if we don't open up our eyes, we're just pretending." Yeah, that line. "Here we are. Lying here. It's our last, final goodnight. Just because it feels so good, no use pretending we're alright." I LOVE that chorus.

Track Four: My Hands. I love this song. The chorus is so fun to sing. (even though I can't sing) This is why I still like pop music.

Track Five: A Little Too Not Over You. I like this one too. "Tell me why you're so hard to forget. Don't remind me. I'm not over it. Tell me why, I can't seem to face the truth. I'm just a little too not over you."  *avoids the 'tell me why' comment*

Track Six: You Can. My favorite song on the album. "Cause if anyone can make me fall in love, you can." It's just the ultimate love song that is so cookleta-ish that it's not funny.   Favorite part??  ---> "Only you can take me sailing in your deepest eyes. Bring me to my knees and make me cry"

Track Seven: Running. Another one that I can't claim as a favorite. It's not bad though.

Track Eight: Desperate. SECOND FAVE! Reminds me so much of a BSB song I can't even...just... wow. His vocals are amazing on this one. "You want somebody, just anybody, to lay their hands on your soul tonight. You want a reason to keep believing that someday you're gonna see the light. Cause you're desperate."

Track Nine: To Be With You. Uhmmmm...not a fave. It's ok. He and the girl sing well together.

Track Ten: Don't Let Go. Ahem...another one that reminds me of the boys...or one boy in particular. He sounds like Howie on this one. I love this song too, BTW.  "Hold on. Hold on. What I'm doing. It's so strong. So strong. What I'm feeling. It's too much. Too much. Ohhhohh...Don't let go. I think this is my favorite vocal wise. He sounds so good...

Track Eleven: You're Eyes Don't Lie. I like whistling at the beginning haha. It's a good song. Fun.

Track Twelve: Angels. I LOVE THIS VERSION OF THIS SONG. Archie does such a good job with Angels.

BONUS TRACK: Works for Me. I like this one too. I love the style. The little clicks and taps...just cool. Reminds me of something from my childhood, but I'm not sure what.... So much fun.

Ok...back to Cook...

LOOOOOOOOOOK!!!! If only billboards charts are the same!!!!
