there's the freudian theory that nightmares are people's deepest desires covered up by fear. and there's also the more recent study that dreams in general are the mind's way of moving short term memory into long term memory. i'm not sure if that'll help you any, but it's pretty much all i know about dreams.

and dude, if i had 'mommy and i are one' stuck in my head when i was trying to sleep, it would creep me out too.
but yeah, the whole topic of dreams is kindof fascinating. people can go through really weird sleep patterns and lots of crazy shit. but i hope your sleeping improves soon.

Freud also said that women's big trauma was seeing the nude male body for the first time, because it was then that they realized they were missing an essential piece of the body, making them neurotic for life. Not such a big fan on Freud. But I think he was right that dreams mean something; my dad thinks dreams are the brain's screensavers, but some of my dreams are so transparent it's impossible not to read meaning into them.
