i love my car but uhh yeah not cheap to fix.

if the car is in decent shape though and you keep up with the routine stuff you shouldn't have any major issues with a jetta. the gls anyway. i don't know anything about the tdi..you'll have to talk to chuck. the gls is slow though...that's why i got rid of mine....haha

chuck says you'll want to check what engine the GLS has in it.

the 2.0 are slow. (what liz had for her jetta, and what my cabrio was)

i have also had a 1.8t (turbo) jetta, which is what liz has now in her GTI. they are alot quicker. There is also the Vr6 (V6) but they tend to run a little more than the 1.8T's.

But as far as cost of repairs, vw's are a little higher than most cars. not sure comparitively to other imports from other regions.

TDI's Chuck doesnt even know much about, i know they get better gas mileage, but with prices the way they are diesel costs more than premium. and fyi though for vw if you do get a 1.8T or VR6 your "supposed" to run premium gas.

if you are worried about spending money on repairs i would not buy a used VW. they have pretty much no warranty as when purchased new compared to other manufacturers. and from what i hear from all of these peeps with VW's they do have alot of little things going wrong pretty often.

i like VWs but i think any owner will tell you to be prepared to spend money on mainetence and little things that go wrong.

they have certified warranties, which are just as good as a new car warranty, but they only offer them on cars that are like 2 years old. with a car being a 00-01 yeah they wouldn't offer the certified warranty.
