I also like that Sephiroth isn't all cuddly - the idea of letting Cloud continue to get beat up, just so Sephiroth can "have" him, is fittingly creepy.

This is intriguing. Especially since no one else has any recognition of him. I'll have to read the first two chapters again. Do the others know they've lived a previous life together?

I figured it's not that far-fetched that he would leave someone in a bad situation so he could continue to help them. Not at all a good thing, but something he might do in order to "keep" him.

Nope. Nobody else has memories of their past life. I thought about having them remember bits and pieces, but it got too complicated.
