To keep up with the times, I should learn HTML 5. Every time I try to turn to that, I can think of at least 3 things that are more important for me to do. So I played a bit with JQuery; it's fun, it's cross-browser, it's easy ... it's boring. *face plant* So I'm thinking I need a job where there's someone to encourage me to work with these

Many sympathies darling, I feel much the same about things... I really aught to pick up a book/look for a tutorial/sharpen my skills in X but... then when would I knit?
