Hey, this popped up in my google alert as i do press for Dananana. They really, really, really don't get paid. If and when they sell records, like any band, that's when they get paid. How much do you think touring costs? How much do you reckon they make in profit from shows? Take into account that there's six of them too. You really dont have a clue and it's a little saddening to imagine thousands and thousands of people like you who just don't get how it works. Don't get me wrong, everyone downloads records including the band, but your attitude goes beyond this and shows you up to be completely deluded on the subject to the point of extreme ignorance. Im deadly serious, they don't make a penny from touring or record sales and, going by recent trends (coupled with the fact theyre not on a major), there's a risk they wont get to make any more records after this one. You should always support artists. ALWAYS. You don't need to buy the record, but getting on their side and rallying behind them is at least a positive start

Hey, I agree with you about supporting artists, as I did point out that I do currently have some of my CD's pre-ordered. I realize that smaller bands like Danana probably do not make much money. I am a musician myself, I have been for years, and I know how poorly paid you get from gigs. The only beef I had was the jerks on last.fm and their wording on the subject. And nothing will ever stop albums being leaked, or after released available for download for anyone who wants to look hard enough. That's just the way it goes. Even bands that make millions have problems with album leaks and so forth.
