For me it seems to change depending on the circumstances. When I'm thinking over something like a problem or an equation I seem to just hear myself mull it over in my head but I tend to use my hands a lot, even if they don't help. But any other time the seem to contain images, especially when I get bored and make up stories in my head, it's like watching a cartoon. Even when listening to music I'll have some images whirling around behind it so I suppose it's mostly images with narration like you.

I guess I'd say images with narration as well. One of my biggest struggles with learning is that I always need some sort of accompanying image or hands-on activity in order to develop a picture in mind and fully understand the text.

I am an auditory learner, by the way. I'm not sure if your learning style would be affected by your thought method or vice versa.

sometimes just sounds, but not speaking, sounds that take the place of speaking, mentally. colors and images sometimes with sound or sounds with colors and images. everything mixes, so nothing is really seperate, its just a huge sensory thing. often times though, there are small 'movies' or scenarios that play, so, whatever is happening there the corresponding things happen there too. if its raining, the sound and sights of rain, the feeling (emotion of rain) and sometimes the smell. things like that. hard to explain .-.

It depends on what I'm thinking about, I guess, and whether or not my eyes are closed. It's easier for me to think in pictures when I close my eyes, but when they're open I usually just think in sound.
