I have a lot of that shyness and insecurity too, but I find it's easier for me to hide on the Internet. I'm also somewhat motivated by fear, though different fears. For that I'd say I'm thankful. Your fears sound more difficult to deal with.

I'm thankful for my fears, for everything I've been through, because without them, who would I be? I like myself too much to think about that for too long.
