Choose Life

I had a long conversation with an old friend earlier this week, and it got me thinking about life and our own perceptions of it. Because really, that's all that it is, our perception. We filter life through our brain's "reality check" and accept whatever comes out. The irony is that we have enough scientific research to now know that our brains ( Read more... )

Thank you.
That's more or less where I'm standing. You took the doubt out of the decision by reminding me what I'm letting pass.

No, thank you for reading it. I put some love into that piece and was itching to see what someone would say because I'm a whore like that. Anyway, I hope you've been pulling through whatever shit life has handed you lately. Remember, if it ever feels like it's piling up too high, Santa Cruz is a straight drive up the 1.

I'm going through a life path debate at the moment. I have a good job (pay wise) that is relatively secure, but it's not what I want to and it's constantly stressing me out. I'm also losing my motivation, which drops my work performance, which might get me fired in the end. So, should I look for a lower paying job (or two) in the wine field or just stick this out for another year (or two) until things are better financially and THEN go for it.

I don't know. I really don't right now.

well i feel honored that you would pose that question in my direction. my humble suggestion would be that it never hurts to keep looking. stick with what you have but keep checking the field and even go for a couple of interviews if you can. you never know what's around the corner and it might help with the stress at your current job because you know that you have an escape and you're not stuck. but you know, i always have and always will be an advocate for people doing something fulfilling over something that fills the pockets. you just have to find a job that provides that happy middle.

Yeah, Michael pretty much suggested the same thing. Tomorrow and Sunday I'm gong to go around (though Managers usually around around then) and see if anyone's hiring. At the least I could work on the weekends.

As for filling the pockets, well, if it were just that I'd quit in a heartbeat, but it's more a matter of keeping a roof over our heads and keeping the water on. So yeah, it's tricky.

Thanks so much for your thoughts!
