I recently checked my grades online from my school. and everything goes so far good except for language art, or you can call it as writing. My teacher gave me a..... 50 on the imaginative story that was due yesterday and its a major test grade. Brought my grade down form a 98 to a 86. Oh fuck. I'm freakin out right now about my grade and the verge ( Read more... )

Sorry, I can't understand your mum. I think it's good to have nice grades, but it's not like everyone should have top grades. I'd understand leaving you without technology if your grades were bad, but they're ALL GOOD. I mean, a B isn't a A, but it's still very good! What your mother is doing is stupid. I don't mean SHE is stupid. But what she is doing is. I hope you'll be able to make her understand grades aren't so important in life. Stressing over grades for all your school life in order to get all A won't help you.

Its okay~ sometime i don't understand her of having top grade is neccessary too... I agree with you, not everybody has to have top grades, but as long as they have nice grade its fine~ Many goes into college with B's and A's and C's from what I hear. My grade are good with B's and up but sadly my mom thinks its bad. She goes saying me and you dad had poor education and we went the best for you. I'm like.... isn't a B good enough too ( ... )

Sorry, read this too. Had to make a comment: that grade thing is cultural. They don't matter nearly so much here as they do there, and in a lot of schools, there's basically no difference between a 95 and a 90--even between a 100 and a 90 sometimes. And it stinks to spend so long obsessing over your grades just to get out into the "real world" and discover nobody gives a fig either way as long as you graduated.

I actually learn that grade didn't matter till2 years ago. The teacher or career people would say, your grade doesn't matter but your sat score do.
:O, there isn't? In my school, grade especially the numbers count for us. Like everybody in my school would go into seperating them as A+ or A-.. seriously.. OTL. -sigh-

It really would stink though.. Might as well as just make A's for the pleasure of my parent, and I can have my lovely laptop to play with.

Wow, I kind of have to agree with aocchan here. Getting punished with a whole *month* of no technology--in an age where that's a huge deal--just for getting one B? That's kind of ridiculous. Wouldn't it be better to offer something nice if you got all As? Positive reinforcement is so much nicer than negative. I mean, *I* was the one flipping out about having to get all As in my house, not my 'rents. They knew I was a good student so they chilled out about it. I thought punishing kids for their grades was something parents only did to... you know, kids who got bad grades o.0 C is average!

If that's 50 out of 100, though, that's really low. If your grade before that was 98%, I can't imagine you did that bad of a job on that. I would bet it's a mistake. I understand you, I'd be freaking out too, but hopefully you can calm down and find out it was just an error.

Yup... My mom makes a big deal of getting a B saying that its gonna affect your average and all that... It is ridiculous, but some of my friend inrl also face the same type of parent like mines... My mom usually just say good job and all that if I get all A's. Nothing too special. She use to give me $20.:O... For me, i was fine if I had 80's and above. I would freak out if i got a C. Its closer to a D. In my school a C is from 75-79 and a D is from 70-74.. It use to be, 60-69 are D and 70-69 are C's.

it is 50% or 50 out of a 100. But I asked my teacher today, and she said that I had a 100, so I'm safe xD. She told me she put 50's first in everybodys and then when we turned our story in, she would change it. I guess the grade hasn't updated for me.. But I did calm down~

Thank you (:

Okay, seriously, your high school GPA doesn't matter. At all. No one will ever ask for it. Even your college GPA isn't *that* important. And by the time you have a college GPA, you could've barely made it out of high school and no one would care.

Well, all I ever got for As was an occasional "good job" too XP

Phew, that's good. It didn't make sense that you'd get such a low grade anyway!

Eh?! Really.. I kinda though GPA didn't matter. I knew highschool grades doesn't matter, but i thought atleast highschool GPA matters. Joy. I'm so happy I'm learning this from you..

xD~ Amazing. My mom sometime goes what you want.

Yes~ I was relieved too. Most of my classmate pretty much freak out when i told them i got a 50 and said that it didn't make sense, but i confirmed by grade and got my 100~ (:
