You're so right/. I've seen the documentary too and the first thing I thought was": "I'm going to live in Canada". Not that the Netherlands is such a violent country, but it's definitely turning into a country like the US. I especially liked that cartoon they showed, from the makers of South Park where they showed the history of America and why it's such a violent country. It almost looked like a parady or something like that, but I think there's definitely truth in it.
Put quite simply eric and dillon were a pair of bullied kids who were able to live out their revenge fantasies due to the availability of guns. The finger was pointed at the freaks because america as a whole, including many of the victims parents (I assume) believe this first amendment crap. Therefore the blame is collectively that of the society that put the gun in these kids hands, not the bands that they listen to who actually reject that social value on the whole.
American has thousands of gun killings every year by a very broad spectrum of people. And yet their taste in music only seems to be an issue when they like Goth / Indsutrial / metal or maybe gansta rap to be fair.
What about all the Billy Ray Cyrus fans who offed people in the last few years ? Charles Manson was inspired by the Beatles song "Helter Skelter" yet no-one calls Paul McCartney a bad role model...
