both!
It really doesn't waste that much time, and it's good to have a place to put those little thoughts you have throughout the day without writing them down.

I agree--I got my first cell phone in 2000, following many situations in which it would have saved me grief to have had one. (For example, my apt building was being renovated, causing me to lose home phone service frequently.) It can be intrusive, but I've gotten to the point where I don't feel obliged to drop what I'm doing and answer it. Caller ID helps w/ that too!

I haven't tried it, so I don't have any opinion on Twitter itself. However, those LJ-feed Tweet thingamabobs? I'm admittedly a cranky Luddite, but IMHO those suckers seldom hold much -- if any -- interest for anyone other than the poster. It's especially irksome if you have to click through an LJ cut to find three lines of in-joke directed at one specific correspondent, so please don't do that if you get absorbed by the collective, ok? :)

Yeah, LoudTweets is incomprehensible. If I am assimilated and want a record of everything on my LJ, I'll make it private.

I can't argue with that! Do you at least get a Crackberry for work?
