My future awaits my arrival, should I only be able to pull myself from my past.

Jan 21, 2006 09:50

Here I am at 4:04 am, up late again, and I seem to have found myself at the peak of my creativity or something. I have so many thoughts running so quickly through my mind that I gave up on writing in exchange for typing, as I seem to work faster that way. They say that changing up your schedule, in the case of trying to conquer any writers block ( Read more... )

learning from the past is wonderful, but the present moment is the only one you have control over. it's kind of my new mantra. the future is great to plan for, the past is great to remember, but i only have control over whether or not i smile right now. i choose to smile most of the time.

most of your thoughts are common. they have found me, in some form, in coffee shops often.

i'm moving to seattle in april.

I definitely agree with you in regards to living in the present. I think that focusing too much on the past/future results in no longer truly living. Without experiencing the fullest extent of emotions, being aware and conscious in the present, you're simply a shell of a person. At least, in my opinion. But, on occasion, I need to step back and look at the larger picture, which was what the challenge of that question gave me the opportunity to do. I think that for the last year or so, I have been living with too little consideration for my future - resulting in great irresponsibility and becoming a bit of a flake.. as planning for anything proved too great a commitment for me.

Anyway, thank you for your comment. What brings you to Seattle?

A few thoughts to share...
1. coffee shops seem to bring out the thinker in you. funny how today i was thinking how my favorite place to be is in a coffee place. Ok maybe starbucks sucks me in, but i'm at my most fabulous geeky self inside with java. Just me and my thoughts and strangers but such a familiar smell. Weird, but i think you can relate.
2. you mention you'd be happier at home where you feel most comfortable but you don't feel challenged by your church. shouldn't you be challenging church? would it matter where you are? anywhere?
3. thanks for sharing your change quote.

Coffee shops are fantastic, like a personal refuge of sorts :) and while starbucks is fine, I love finding the local coffee shops - you know, the kinds that have the unique coffee cups, the foam art, etc. :D Not only does it bring out the thinker in me, but also the people watcher. :D

And when it comes to church, I love being challenged while challenging. I suppose I just get addicted to continuous personal growth, regarless of the source. I just don't feel capable in some ways of going back to my previous church - a "christian factory" of sorts - and challenging the group effectively.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your encouragement/opinions :D
