This doesn't really answer your question, since we don't have either option, but I think to say, "I TiVo-ed the results" sounds much better than saying "I am DVR'ing the show."

I DVR stuff every day.
And my DVR isn't 'Tivo' so for me to say that I Tivo something would be incorrect.
I don't think I ever said 'I'm going to record this show' when I was using a VCR.
I would (and still do say regarding my Michigan-home setup) 'I'm going to TAPE it'
i.e. the device becomes the method.
