Right now, I’m writing this entry on a comfortable king size bed, watching “The Peacemaker,” starring George Clooney & Nicole Kidman.
No, I haven’t arrived at Perth. I haven’t even left San Francisco yet. Right now, I’m in the Clarion Hotel, room 6045, outside the San Francisco International Airport. United Airlines, in its infinite “wisdom,” overbooked the flight, and bumped me along with a number of other people (both voluntarily and involuntarily). It did not matter what time I checked in, and I checked in as soon as I landed in San Francisco from Toronto. However, I did not prevail in getting a seat.
But like the saying goes, “In every cloud, there’s a silver lining.” I received a cheque for $400 US, stayed at a hotel and ate there for two nights free, had my flights re-booked tomorrow and upgraded to Business class for the trip to Sydney, and gained a chance to spend the day in San Francisco.
I’m not sure what I’ll do. There are so many places I could possibly see. I definitely wanted to see the Gay Village of San Francisco at the very least…
