Victorian charms
and kitten-like reflexes,
all carefully sheathed claws
hid by genteel manners -
a power-play,
mockery of the system:
where only lies are found
and truths are denied...
for the sake of propriety?
honest tears hidden from view,
society demands docility
and fake expressions of
understated appreciation;
dressed in crinolines
and petticoats galore,
full skirts and bustles -
fussy with lace,
frills and ruffles...
beauty is a false vision,
dictated by the many standards
of an overbearing world.
