those of you who have been in my lovely rental abode know that it leaves much much much to be desired. i am slowly doing what i can to make the joint more liveable and a bit more me ( Read more... )

I think it looks very agreeable. I love bold color and high contrast design.

I'd consider painting the shelving: black for the braces and a shade of blue and green for the vertical and horizontal planks, respectively... leaving the top of the shelf white so it won't reflect a color onto the white walls/ceiling.
