Has anyone heard the minority of televised ignorant Christians who have been blaming the hurricanes on homosexuals, and that New Orleans is being judged for their sin?

That made me pretty angry.

It's no wonder that so many people dont take Christianity seriously. To make a statement, in a public forum such as CNN, etc, that is so obviously hurtful, ignorant, and intolerant is idiocy. People are hurting right now, families are destroyed, as well as homes, property, everything. Fathers, mothers, children; no one escaped the horror of what Katrina did to the gulf coast. Christians should be reaching out, showing these people love, bringing them into their homes, giving EVERYTHING they can, in money, in our prayer time, and in our physical efforts. If I could get out of work and school for a week, my butt would be down there in a heart beat.

On the other side of the ball, we cannot ignore the literal relevance of the book of Revelation and its prophecy about end times. Those who say that Katrina is judgement on the sinful culture of New Orleans, see an opportunity to be heard, and do not properly study scripture to see if what they believe is supported in the Bible. Anyone who went even surface deep would find that there is no possible way that Katrina was sent by God to judge New Orleans.

The Bible is EXPLICIT about God's wrath and judgement, and upon whom that wrath is given to.

Romans 2:5 But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God's wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed.

Romans 2:8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.

BUT

Romans 5:8-9 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him!

1 Thessalonians 5:9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

God will pour out His wrath on this earth but NOT upon Christians, according to Romans 5 and 1 Thess 5! That is an amazing promise to Christians, that means that the judgement of God was put upon Christ, and if we are in Him, we are saved from it. In the literal sense, this means that Christians must be raptured BEFORE the 7 year tribulation, when God will pour out His wrath upon the Earth... (could go on about that for another page...)

So for someone to say Hurricane Katrina was part of God's judgement, they are doubly wrong. The two problems with that statement are:
1. God doesnt put wrath on Christians; How many Christians were killed by Katrina or immediate problems caused by it?
2. God's judgement is during the tribulation; Did we Christians all miss the rapture?

once again, thanks to anyone who ventured a read.
hopefully it meant something to someone.
