Funny timing how the baby is getting closer to coming, while TV's Jeff and Annie are also getting closer to coming, and everyone's nerves are shooting up all around - although us TV fans passed the two-month mark of waiting back in December.

But after the funny - and semi graphic on teenage Jeff's part - first half of this one, the laughs pretty much stopped. This is the second time you've really gotten angsty, after the suicidal Jeff one-shot, and this one snuck up even more than that one did. With your fluffy rep, you still have the advantage of surprising us whenever you do go dark - but even if you didn't, this would still be utterly tear jerking.

Is this a harbinger of more last-minute fears to come, or is it back to fluff whe the baby creeps closer? I'm still half-expecting Annie's mom to pop up soon, so it could plausibly go either way.

I can safely say that her mom won't be showing up any time soon. Her dad maybe at some point, but not her mom. I don't have much interest in writing that at the moment.

I was not expecting the direction this chapter went in, especially given the cute beginning part. My heart broke for Jeff, especially when he revealed how afraid he is that he might turn into his father and hurt Annie or his daughter. This chapter really showcases how versatile of a writer you are. Because while you’ve written mainly fluffy fics (such as Adventures in Avian Babysitting and most of the chapters in this fic), every once in a while you come out with a great dramatic fic (like You Had The Whole World in Your Hands, Some Devil, or this chapter here). Though hopefully the next chapter is back to fluffiness, since two angsty chapters back to back would be a lot to take in. Though since it’s your story, if that’s what it calls for do as you see fit.

Haha I think the angst is mostly done, at least for a bit. I'm not crazy about angst with these two but it happens even in the best of relationships in the real world, right?

So awesome! I'm always so excited when you update this fic because I know it's going to be great, and this is no exception. I love the 'realness' of this chapter. It was very deep and emotional without devolving into melodrama. Great work :)

Want to know something ridiculous? It took me days to decide how they were going to spell her first name. Apparently there are a few different ways, including Laney, Lainey,and Lainie. It was the dumbest thing for me to fixate on.
