Start off by doing a price sheet. Err on the side of slightly underselling yourself, since you're not a pro and you don't have name recognition yet. Once you become more popular and demand goes up, you can always raise your prices. Just don't undersell yourself too much, or you're not really making money at all. Form a kind of "portfolio," showing off your skills at different levels, so you have examples for your price sheet. Icons, ACEOs, paintings, sketches, line or ink work, markers, whatever you plan to take commissions in. Do 1-3 examples of each (more examples for the bigger, more expensive pieces isn't necessary). Then join groups like teenycom. Offer the cheaper end of your art, stuff you can churn out relatively quickly, and maybe do BOGO or bulk deals. Once you've gotten a bit of traffic, open up for more expensive commissions and just a couple at a time--you can even link outside of teenycom ( ... )
