I scanned over "tonsils" and read it as "nostrils". I was so confused as to what would make them swell, and thoroughly thrown off when you said a doctor agreed that they needed to be removed. It wasn't until after I read that "they have never been this big before" that I decided I must be mistaken, and I went back and re-read the word.
