We adopted a new cat in September. Overall, she's a great new addition. However, she will not consistently use the liter box. She also likes to chew on things she shouldn't. I need to train her. Any ideas anyone

When you see kitty doing bad things, squirt her. It doesn't harm the kitty, just scares her. This would probably work better for the scratching than the bodily functions, though, since scratching might be more voluntary than the 'accidents'.
cool, thanks! I'll keep it in mind. Right now we're using a litter attractant (to attract her to the litter box), giving her extra snuggles (so she'll stop being nervous--we think her past environment is a major factor so I think reassuring her is helping), and we're using a cat repellent in the two spots she was marking (to try to break the habit). So far, so good! Whoo! Thanks so much for the help! -n.
