i swear, kids don't know how to use thier imaginations anymore.
they're playing harry potter and they want real wands(there is only one wand that actually looks like a wand) and tarin had his mom make them capes like they wear in the movie

if i was thier age, i would wear a blanket for a cape have a marker for my wand.

that's so what i used to do when i was lil. markers were all sorts of play toys for me when i was growing up.

maybe give the kids a selected group of items and tell them they can only play with those things, nothing more. markers, tissue paper, etc etc, that'll get their brains in gear...
