I only know Dresden vaguely from crossover fanfic and the rest of the characters, not at all, but I enjoyed this story anyhow. Cool adventure. Now I want to know more......
Both canons are awesome, and definitely worth getting into. The Dresden Files is the more action-packed, more obviously fantasy one, though. Go read the books -- they're even better adventures than this one :-)
I loved Journeyman for the 13 episodes it aired, for taking a single SF/fantasy conceit and then showing how it would affect actual people -- freaking out, people being considered crazy, even criminal investigations. Harry Dresden gets to deal with the 'real world' quite a lot in the early books, but it gets less and less. Journeyman is firmly centered within it. I like the contrast.
The books are awesome :-) I've been rereading Cold Days off and on since it came out, and it put me on a bit of a fic kick as well. We'll see if I manage to finish the other two I have partial drafts for, too. Those aren't challenge related, though, so they'll take longer.
The TV show was fun, but it couldn't get to the kind of epic scales the books got to. Certainly not on a TV budget and with hour-long episodes. I liked what they did with Bob, though. And Blackthorne made a good Dresden, even if the Dresden in the books sometimes seems a little... nerdier?
I've been watching Arrow, and even though it's a fun show anyway, it did gain a little extra frisson because it's one of the first things I've really seen Blackthorne in after the Dresden files. He wears the role of a weary police detective well, too.

Are you a Dresden Files fan, then? I can't remember ever seeing you talk about it (this could just be my faulty memory, too :-))

I wish Kevin McKidd was in more things.
