Draco, Draco and some more Draco

Jul 17, 2009 21:05

To summarize how I feel about the HbP-film just now: Fucked up storyline, overblown romance and OOCness, but on the other hand, loads of Draco.. and Severus. Of course, there were other good things about it, particularly one scene I liked, but I just can't seem to remember it.  like the Love potion. Oh Ron. <3

Hello OTP. Good to see you properly. No, really, the snaco... ah. Fantastic. I was all squealy and covering my mouth with my hands during some of those scenes there. But more about that after some ranting. If you want only fangirling, do feel free to skip the next few paragraphes.

Although I've been flailing about this film for every new screenshot of interest and trailer I've seen, I didn't really have that high expectations. Seing as the previous one wasn't any good, and it's the same director, I already knew from the beginning they would destroy, remove or alter many parts of the storyline, as well as adding some scenes. However, the completely-out-of-nowhere attack on the Burrow, in particular, took away loads of time they could've used for scenes that actually needed the extra time. Or scenes that were completely removed, as the infirmary-scene at the end of the book. I wanted to see Bill, I wanted the one romance that was actually almost cut out of the film; only hinted at when they are on christmas-vacation at the Burrow. That's Tonks/Lupin, yes. Of course, I'm glad they didn't make it all huge like Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione and Ron/Lavender (although the last one was rather in-your-face in the book as well, and was supposed to be so, so I didn't really mind all that much). I also think Tonks': "Aw, it's that time of month for him"-thing was adorable. In general, Tonks was loads better here than in the previous film. The hair might have had something to do with it. Short hair for Tonks, please.

And, um, Ginny, you are my favourite character besides Sirius, but I have to say this anyway. She was.. everywhere. In the Room of Requirement with Harry and and.. I don't know. I feel like they ruined her a bit, but at the same time.. not. I really don't know. I wish they'd had the real Harry-and-Ginny-get-together-scene. I liked that.

The soundtrack was also really wonderful. Not that I'd expected anything else, but it really was great.

But DRACO. Oh, Draco. Although I didn't like how we get to know what he's up to almost from the beginning, all the scenes with him were great, and really showed how he was first so proud, but then got more and more anxious when he couldn't get the vanishing cabinet to work properly. And the post-christmas-party-scene with Snape in the Hallway. Guh. It was just as great as I had imagined it to be while drooling over the screenshots. Well, almost. Where did the walking-away go? You know, that one:

I guess it was just cut. Which of course makes me all: "Omg, I want the dvd, will it come out soon, pleeease, I want to see the deleted scenes!".

Oh, yes, the Sectumsempra-scene, of course! Mustn't forget about my favourite chapter in all the books. Um. Well. I must say I am a bit disappointed. With Moaning Myrtle removed, thus no "MURDER, MURDER IN THE BATHROOM!", it looks like Snape is just randomly walking into the room (Stalking Draco, perhaps?), then he walks all slowly towards Draco, stands there looking between Draco and Harry, and only after a few seconds of simply standing there does he actually heal the poor, bleeding boy. Whereas in the book he's storming in, shoving Harry aside and starts healing Draco immediately. I miss the continuation of that scene as well, although it wasn't quite as important to me.

I could go on, but really, right now I just want to read what other people have to say about this. And fanfiction. If I can find it. Hopefully people have been inspired and there'll be tons of Snaco pouring out on the Internet real soon. Not likely, but we can always hope.

If I do remember what that scene I liked was, I'll probably come back to edit it. Maybe.  Love potion, love potion! *Hugs Ron*

Nox.
