((Oooookay... it's been a while, but I trust you all remember what's been going on? This bit happens after Speedy has been captured in Steel City, on the way back to the Institute... hopefully, this, along with Starfire's capture by party's unknown *smirk* will help jump-start us again

His eyes widened as his gaze went from Robin to Slade and back again.

"Robin? What-- ?" His eyes narrowed and he shook his head. "Look, I trust you... but this is just screwed up. This is like..." He paused, shaking his head again.

-Like if one of us started helping Brother Blood again...-

Biting down on his lip some, Robin frowned; Speedy didn't need to finish that sentence for him to guess what he'd been meaning to say. "That doesn't sound very trusting," he grumbled, allowing his gaze to fall away again.

He wasn't going to bother fighting away his thoughts, he already knew he wouldn't hear the end of it as it was.

He snorted again, his mouth twisting with incredulity. He strained against his bonds to emphasize his point.

"Can you blame me, Robin?"

"No," he replied shortly, and rather bitterly.

He hated being so confused. So unsure what to think for the first time under these circumstances... and it made him so aggravated. It probably showed, but at this rate, he didn't seem to care.

Slade looked at Robin, his eye blank and his mask still firmly in place.

"What have I told you, Robin? You're only making this harder on yourself..."

Frowning, Robin turned his head to glance towards Slade. Somehow he couldn't bring himself to give that 'deathglare' again. "I can't just give up on them," he snapped, but his voice lowered as he continued and he turned away where he had before, "but I can't just..."

He let out an exasperated sigh that sounded more like a growl as he shook his head. You can't just forget everything you've learned since you got here. That's the only explanation for... what happened back there, he thought grudgingly.

But why did you even start to say it?

Slade reached out and grabbed Robin by the hair, pulling him backwards and swinging him around, changing his grip to Robin's jaw.

"You can and you will 'give up on them', boy. Or they will all become like your archer friend is about to."

Robin half-cried out, wincing barely as his glared up towards Slade, horror reaching it's way into his expression.

"What are you going to do to Speedy?!" he managed to demand.
