I'm not going to get all poetic, because I've sort of...laid that aside I guess. I've just gotten the feeling that I suck as a poet, and i don't really belong there.
Not true. You belong there just as much as anyone else does. It's hard to find your place in a area that is predominantly an older, experienced crowd (I assume you are referring to the W. Poetry Slam). They all started somewhere too, fresh, eager, beginners, dipping their toes into the creative pool, just to test the waters...For me I've come to realize Poetry isn't one of those things were you get to stay in the shallow end, wading around knee deep. It's completely slipping under, drowning in everything that it offers - letting that fill your lungs.
You are at an advantage those experienced poets will never have. You're young. You have the bravery/courage they didn't have at your age, and you also have a pretty well developed community of poets to support you - reach out. It's scary, but it's worth it.
Eh this is the youth group...team...whatever. And they're all so good I'm like wow, next to them, I must really look stupid. Lapse of confidence I guess. But I've realized that words are so subjective, and poets are really supportive and not judgmental.

You should totally get back into poetry...I dunno what you're upto right now...but it would be awesome if you came down to Worcester and featured at a slam :D
