Summary: After another night of drinking, England falls asleep wishing he had won the Revolutionary War so that America would still be his obedient, cute little brother. Upon waking, England finds his wish granted.
The room was silent for a long time. The boy had gotten very uncomfortable and started shifting on his feet, looking nervously around the room. England remained still, eyes wide, hands on his desk, mouth hanging slightly open, and stared straight ahead. The boy thought he was staring at him, which is why he felt so awkward, but England wasn’t staring at this boy, who meant nothing to him, who had no impact on him other than the news he had just brought. England was simply staring, for lack of a better way to process the information.
The boy scratched the back of neck and coughed, abruptly pulling England from his thoughts. He muttered something, asking are you ok, sir? but England wasn’t listening. He was pulling the forgotten envelope from his briefcase and tearing it open. He yanked out the papers within, much too roughly, and racing his eyes over the papers in disbelief.
The boy was trying to calm him down, but it was all white noise in the background. Really sir, it’s alright that you forgot. Mr. Harrow made plans. Really, calm down, it’s fine. England ignored him and frantically searched the files. He didn’t know what he was looking for until his eyes rested on it.
“monthly management meeting between The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the American Colonies”
Questions forced their way into England’s head faster than his mind could handle. How? When? Where is he? Where am I? Is this real? What the bloody hell is going on?
England slammed his hands on his desk to stop his brain from overloading, causing the boy to nearly jump out of his skin. The boy approached the desk cautiously. “Sir? Are you all right? You look kind of pale.”
England ran a hand through his hair. “Yes, fine,” he muttered, taking another sip of tea. He thought for another moment and then looked up at the boy. “Where can I find some history records? Ah, for material, for the meeting,” he quickly added after seeing the boy’s eyebrow lift.
“You really don’t need to, Mr. Harrow’s guidelines are clear.” The boy paused, taking in England’s angered expression. “Ah, but. Um. If you need them.” The boy ran out of the room and returned with a small stack of history books in his hands. “Here’s all the history regarding the American colonies. But please look through Mr. Harrow’s plans as well.”
The boy placed all the materials in front of England and rushed out of the office, glad to be free from such a strange and impulsive man.
~*~*~England merely skimmed the books, seeing as he also had to prepare for a meeting, but he had learned enough.
“The Americans broke rules and used tricks. Initially, this Guerilla Warfare threw the British. They lost many men in the first few battles in which America used these techniques. It did not take long, however, for the English to find their footing again. Adjusting to the change in tactics, on June 26th, 1776 the British successfully invaded Sullivan’s Island, SC. Capturing this island was a major turning point in the war and advantage for the British. With a safe base for their Navy, the British now had easy access to reinforcements and materials. On June 28th, 1776 the British Navy decisively defeated the Patriots in large numbers at Fort Moultrie, South Carolina.
“After a week of petty battles, the Americans had not only lost many men to the British forces, they also lost their will to fight. King George III made quick work approving the documents of surrender and on July 4th, 1776, England ended the War of Insurrection with a powerful victory.”
“The 4th of July…how ironic…” England whispered to himself, a smile spreading across his face and tears welling up at the corners of his eyes.

Chapter Three notes:
- I don’t think the history books would have called it the Revolutionary War or the War of Independence, since it didn’t end in a revolution…or independence… So I named it War of Insurrection instead. “Insurrection” means “an act or instance of rising in revolt, rebellion, or resistance against civil authority or an established government.”
- England Initially lost the war because, while they were following the rules of war (line up, kneel, shoot), the Americans used the technique learned from the Native Americans called Guerilla Warfare (hid behind stuff and ambush, how war is now).
- June 26th, failed British naval attack on Sullivan’s Island
- June 28th, Patriots defeat the British Navy at Fort Moultrie, South Carolina
(For those two, I just made it so England had a little more luck and won Sullivan’s Island, therefore had better ground for defeating the Americans. It was a close battle, so it's plausible.)
A/N: A really short chapter, sorry. But I felt it should be ended here, ya know? But don't expect the other updates to come this quickly, lol. I just had a lot of free time today, and again, it's a short chapter. Anyway I really hated having to type “the boy this” and “the boy that” but I couldn’t segway into a point to know his name. Not that it was important anyway. I just hope that didn’t bug you or anything. Also, wow, that was the most research I've ever done for a story. A fanfic no less. And I fear I'll have to do more in the chapter to come. ;A; But it's summer! Well, I got myself into this, lol. And maybe a week isn’t enough for a country to loose their will to fight but…well, with the right conditions that I don’t want to type down, it was. Heh heh... Ahh! Next chapter is colony!America's big debut! I'm excited but nervous to write him. xD Well, just something too look forward to. ;)
