I think it's really hard to say if they will return it (sorry suf) but from their mentality they probably wouldn't take it out to use it for fear that it may be recognised??

OK admittedly I may be thinking too far. Does it belong to the school? Or is it your own? If it is the former it may be returned ...

...I lost a really thin book, Happy Days by Samuel Beckett I borrowed from NLB in HC and it was never recovered. Owe the library Thirty. Nine. Effing. Dollars.
