HULK HATE WRITING INFOPOSTS!

Feb 17, 2012 10:56

It's a problem because his fingers are huge and the keyboard is tiny and generally his posts looks like Katie when someone shows her a slashy picture of CMM  and Jared Padalecki.

Anywho...

No, I won't get tired of writing Hulk declarations in caps. Deal with it.

The story so far!

If you haven't seen The Incredible Hulk then you may want to skip this as it will contain spoilers.

This version of Bruce Banner/The Hulk comes from the Marvel Movieverse. Specifically the one with Ed Norton and not the one with Eric Bana. And possibly not the Avengers version of the Hulk since that one has Mark Ruffalo so this whole story could be a reboot coming in May. Time will tell. Just as long as the Hulked-out poodle doesn't return, I'll be happy.

The story of the Hulk begins with Bruce Banner. Physician. Scientist. His exact credentials aren't given in the movie but we'll go with MD and PhD. Bruce was working for the US Army trying to create a serum that he believed would give soldiers immunity to Gamma Radiation. He was so sure of it working that he tested the serum on himself and bombarded himself with gamma radiation.

Bad idea.

The experiment went horribly wrong and transformed Bruce into a giant green monster with a whole bunch of rage issues. He trashed the labortory, killed two scientists and a military officer as well as hurting Bruce Banner's girlfriend, Betty Ross.

Bruce then went on the run as a fugitive getting tangled up in a few adventures that also cost the lives of a couple of other innocent bystanders due to Hulk transformations. He hid out for a while in Brazil until he was tracked down by the US Army. After transforming to the Hulk and trashing a good portion of where Bruce used to work, Bruce headed back to the states in the hopes of finding a cure with an anonymous scientist known only as "Mr. Blue."

Yeah, that really didn't happen. The cure only worked one time before Bruce was captured by the military. Unfortunately one of the nutjobs sent to find him had gone off the deepend and ended getting transformed into a monster known in the comics world as "The Abomination." The military had little choice but to let Bruce transform into the Hulk and spend a good twenty minutes of the movie destroying New York City until the Abomination was finally down for the count.

Bruce/The Hulk then escaped to Canada for a bit where Bruce continues to find a cure as well as a way to control the raging spirit that dwells within.

Don't make me hungry. You wouldn't like me if I was hungry.">

Whoops. Guess Bruce isn't as good in Portguese as he thought he was. (That's a joke from the movie. No, I won't explain it.)

So the big thing here is that Bruce has a problem. Mainly the fact that if Bruce gets angry, hurt or his heart rate gets a bit too high it can trigger his transformation into the Hulk. He's built up some safeguards to help him with this. He constantly monitors his heart rate. If he sees trouble coming, he's going to try to avoid it.

At the end of the movie it was shown that Bruce can now initiate a transformation if he so chooses and there was a hint that he has better focus over the control of the Hulk. However I'm still of the mind that the Hulk is a pretty much a uncontrollable creature so he most likely won't be transforming to the hulk anytime on the island unless it's approved for a plot.

And finally: Yes, if you're from the Marvel-verse you can recognize Bruce without checking in with me. He's pretty well known in the 616 universe and I'm okay with that. Keep in mind that this version of Banner does not have a friend in Rick Jones or was created by an exploding Gamma Bomb so he'll look at you funny if you mention it.

Thoughts? Concerns? Pie?
