Oh Yugito...killing that ANBU was a sword that cuts both ways. Ouch.
I am curious what those creatures would feel like living inside of Kakuzu- in the anime when he released them, it sounded...very painful.
Also, I realize I probably re-commented on one of your other fics; every time something new pops up from you I get hungry for more and end up going back and reading your other drabbles again. :)
"...saw Kakuzu reach down, his hand coming upward again covered in burgundy red, the fluid running down his naked arm in one thick drop, falling to the ground just shy of reaching the elbow." Why do I find this...slightly erotic? *hides*
First of all thanks for the kind comment. Feel free to comment on my fics as much as you like, I'm delighted ever time you do! :) Kakuzu and the heart-things...I'm still not sure about that. I mean: they're certainly a part of him, but then again probably not since he can't operate them without another ones heart inside, so by having their own live force they have at least in that a bit of autonomy. Then again it is probably a bit hard to see a part that can move independetly from your own body as part of yourself, but mainly I guess they're marionettes. Must be strange to carry them around. I imagine them shifting inside him and moving around...and I agree that in the anime it appears to be pretty painful when he lets them out. Ever the more since those heart-beasts are just as tall as he is. This whole heart-taking scene came out very different from what I first intended by the way. I just imagined him to be very! angry afer one of his hearts being destroyed thus the gore. When I finished and re-read it I was actually a bit o_O.
Eheheh~ I love your fics, it always amazes me how much you manage to convey even in your smaller pieces.
I remember an artwork on a fansite, here is a convenient link http://flag.flop.jp/log/2009/imgdata/20090512dia.jpg and the artist's actual journal http://flag.flop.jp/log/nicky.cgi?DT=20090512A#20090512A I looked up what s/he wrote about the idea behind the image, and the interpretation was along the lines that, consciousness arises from 'shiren' = heart chakra. After incorporating the heart, its consciousness flows in too, the thought or 'cha', and then whatever that was, it would bring along with it whatever mood, which might last for a while so that Kakuzu might get bad feelings or whatnot before he fully takes ownership over it. I thought that was an interesting idea when I saw it, plus amazing art!
I remember hearing about people becoming very musical afer being transplanted a pianist's heart or something of the like. It might be an urban myth, but I think that might be the same concept. (And apropos amazing art: I feel I have to pimp this even if it is for the sole reason that I have mooned over this for hours. http://xxlyraxvincexx.deviantart.com/favourites/#/d3dzk6u )
