I had some of your fic saved to read on recommendation from a friend, and now I'm kicking myself that I didn't do it sooner, because your writing is just the most wonderful thing I've encountered in this fandom in a long time, so weighted and laden and brutally precise. THIS IS PHENOMENAL. I love, in particular:
1. The thing had been strong and fierce in ways she had never felt anything be, but never malevolent, never truly spiteful <--I love your distinctions between the tailed beasts, forces of nature but of course a jinchuuriki would be equipped to make this type of comparison where others wouldn't. Your nekomata is genuinely frightening, and due to her association with it I love that Yugito is too, and that B is alarmed by the kind of visceral, old-world malice she has to deal with as opposed to his sanitized and friendly version.
2. I love that you take these characters I only ever see treated as comic relief in fic--Kakuzu, B--and give their characterizations so much matter, so that you can see so clearly the trails they
( ... )
Wow, thank you! It is so good to know that people actually enjoy my stuff. Yugito and the nekomata...well, that's a chapter of it's own. I always liked to think that they somehow influence each other. Having another one's consciousness in your own must be strange, especially if it is something as old and twisted as a bijuu. What somehow irked me in the series is that the bijuu seem to have become all docile and cooperative afer Naruto and B learned to control them. So I lent the nekomata that lightly spiteful edge. It does Yugito's bidding, but it also tells her all those harsh truths that people usually manage to delude themselves about. I guess she was kind of an "old" girl and is an "older" woman still. But she probably accepted it in a way that is not quite resignation and so she deals with it. And no, of course I don't mind if you friend me. Read senri's and skycreature's stuff about Kakuzu/Yugito/Hidan too if you haven't yet. They inspired me and their writing syle still kills me every time.
